James Henderson Phillips died at his home southwest of town on Saturday April 28 after a year of illness. He leaves wife Ida and nine children, plus 38 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral at Methodist Episcopal church with Rev A C Rainsberger officiating, interment at Spring Grove cemetery. pallbearers were his eight sons. He was 74 years old and a devout member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the local church.
