New Members Graduate in Wyandot County Highway Auxiliary

Fourteen new members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary were honored at a April 23 dinner and graduation in Carey. They received 40 hours of instruction including 20 hours in first aid and were assigned to Bucyrus District 2 with ongoing training planned.

The P T A met in the high school auditorium to mark the National Education Association centennial. Walter Bixler led group singing as Miss Opal Oman gave scripture and prayer, and Douglas W Myers paid tribute to teachers. New officers were installed and boutonnières given. refreshments followed.

Junior Cadet Bands to Present Dad's Night Concert

The Junior and Cadet bands under Walter Bixler will give their annual Dad's Night concert at 8 pm Monday in the high school auditorium. Relatives and friends are invited, with refreshments in the cafeteria after a brief Band Mothers meeting.

Carey schedules altered on Sunday April 28 at 1:01 a.m noting new timings for Chesapeake and Ohio and New York Central trains. Northbound No 47 now 3 50 am replacing 4 20 am. Southbound No 46 9 45 pm from 10 pm. NYC trains shift to 2 50 am 302 3 50 am 301 1 40 pm 312 12 41 pm with 12 55 pm prior times.

Vanlue Firemen Respond To Kitchen Grease Fire

Vanlue volunteer firefighters were called to the home of Mr and Mrs John Oman three miles southwest of the village at about 8 am Wednesday. A skillet of grease caught fire in the kitchen burning curtains and a light fixture, with extensive smoke damage to the room and lighter damage to the rest of the house. Mrs Oman was in the basement when the fire started and had just finished installing a modern kitchen.

Meter Receipts Show April Decline in City Collections

Parking meter receipts for April totaled 4 1, a drop of 3 750 from 50 850 for the same month last year, Clerk Auditor Zenith McLarkey reports. Four month totals this year were 2 053 or 9 050 less than for the first four months of 1956.
