Careys Clean-up Week Details May 5 10

Tomorrow night the Luther League will hold a social in the church parlors. Confirmation class will join the League. A special offering for European relief is being received under the National Lutheran Council. Germany faces starvation for 20 000 000 people per Mr Herbert Hoover. The Western Conference of the Synodical United Lutheran Church of America meets in Toledo Augsburg church Monday and Tuesday. Christ church pastor attends with Mr H L Wenner. Rev Speaker conducts devotional and preaches Tuesday morning. Christ church pastor spoke at Vanlue eighth grade graduation last Saturday.

Carey City Council approves audits and public works

City officials including Mayor Blue and Clerk Stoody approved multiple payments for April and May salaries and bills. The council authorized street cleaning, road improvements with Crawford township, a 25 memorial day grant to the Grand Army, a fire truck insurance adjustment, a 120 am closing for the dance pavilion, and a Clean-up Week May 7 to 12 with curbside pickup.

Death of Frank Lutz 63 Gardener at 29 Grace Street

Frank Lutz a 63 year old retired gardener died at his home after a week long bed fast illness from heart trouble. Born May 13 1861 in New Riegel he had lived in the city twenty years and belonged to St Marys church. Survived by two sisters two brothers a niece and a nephew. funeral held Friday in Tiffin with burial at St Josephs cemetery.

Carey Low Turnout Marks Tuesday Preferential Primary

Local results show about 220 votes cast in Carey and 43 in Crawford township with Ridge township at 14. Cox and Coolidge led locally with Cox 121 and Coolidge 98. McAdoo and Johnson also listed. Ballot counting was quick. Carey finished within a half hour after polls closed. Across the state Cox and Coolidge held majorities as national conventions loom.

Infant John V. Gunther Dies Following Surgery

John Verner Gunther infant son of Mr and Mrs Samuel Gunther of Dola died in a Lima hospital after an operation performed the day before He was born March 10 1924 Funeral services were held at the Pola home and burial followed Attending were Mrs Della Gunther Mrs Ross Draper and Mrs Frank Streby Mrs Gunther formerly Miss Treva Houser a former local schoolteacher

Dedication Week Planned for New Methodist Church

The dedication program for the new Methodist Episcopal church runs August 3 to 10 with events led by Dr. Albert Edwin Smith of Ohio Northern University Ada and featuring sermons, organ recital by Rev Don Herbst Copeland, Ladies Aid supper, past pastors gathering, a play, a children's program and a bishop’s formal dedication on Sunday August 10. The schedule remains tentative and subject to change.

Kiwanians Return Luncheon at Woodmen's Hall

The Kiwanian club resumed Monday luncheons at Woodmen's Hall with W G Payne serving meals. H B Stief spoke on his southern tour, sharing notes on crops and Mardi Gras in New Orleans. A prize donated by Mr Ewing and drawn by D C Henry added to the gathering. all urged attendance next Monday.

The notice by Ham Hook lauds S S Harris Carey O for 23 years teaching in schools and 14 years as village clerk. He never missed a board meeting and was late only once five minutes. Hart and his wife recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
