Easter Day Observances at Christ Church Luther League Seeks Breakfast

Easter will be celebrated at Christ Lutheran Church with a 6 a.m. sunrise service, 7:30 a.m. breakfast by the Luther League, 9:30 a.m. church school, and a 10:30 a.m. worship featuring two Easter anthems. The chancel will have lilies, and infant baptism is set for 4 p.m. Parents should call the church office. Palm Sunday attendance reached 386.

40th Anniversary of Mr and Mrs Orville Nye in Monroe

Mr and Mrs Orville Nye of S Lake Street celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a surprise party in Monroe Michigan on March 24 1916. Granddaughter Catherine Shaull and son Ronald Nye performed, 14 children attended plus many relatives. one son Robert Donald died in World War II.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis Breidenbach sold their 5 room home at 630 N. Vance Street to Mr. and Mrs. Sam Stone of East South Street. The Stones will move in once the Breidenbachs vacate. The Breidenbachs plan to leave Tarey but have no definite plans yet.

Y Teens Meeting Highlights and Holy Week Plans

In the absence of the president Phyllis Beckley presided over the Y-Teens meeting. Janet Sizemore led devotions with Lorine May and others. Guest speaker Mrs. Lewis Hawk spoke on marriage and mate selection. Fourteen girls will see Carousel at Findlay High School. Plans for Holy Week services were discussed with daily talks and colored slides of the Holy Land. Carey High School Band attended a Bowling Green State University clinic and concert.

Carey Teachers Attend Fifth Annual Conference on Instruction

Mrs. Charles Schwemley and Miss Opal Oman represented the Carey Teachers Association at the Fifth Annual Conference on Instruction in Ohio. Delegates, including 608 educators, visited Columbus schools, heard George B Leonard Jr speak on The Truth About the Teacher Crisis, and joined workshops on improving reading instruction.

Carey High School Holds Annual Athletic Banquet

The Carey High School athletic banquet occurred Monday evening March 26 in the school cafeteria and auditorium. About 200 attended a steak dinner served by the Band Mothers. Superintendent D W Myers welcomed guests before Jack Donelson honored the football squad and Pete Fanning awarded the 56 basketball team with hopeful prospects for next year.

Critical Injured In Car Collision Near Carey

National Lime and Stone Co employees were en route to Toledo when a car collision at 6 30 p m Tuesday left Bake critically injured with a crushed chest and broken ribs. Ralph Wood and Kenneth Richards sustained injuries. Dr Vogel was hospitalized with shock and bruises. Donations of blood were rushed to St Charles Hospital as the accident was investigated.

Need Coaches For Boys Ball Teams In Wyandot County

An effort to expand Carey baseball to ages 8 to 18 seeks six coaches and meeting tonight at 8 in the American Legion Hall. Last year’s 16-year-olds would be eligible if the plan gains approval, enabling three teams under the American Legion program. Financing uniforms and gear for 18-year-olds is the main hurdle, with total costs around $400.

Police court records show Leo Richards, 18, Detroit, posted $20 bond March 25 for speeding but forfeited it after failing to appear. James Curtis Pence, 31, Sandusky, charged with a U turn on E Findlay Street forfeited bond for no show.
