Carey Fire Department Responds to Three Blazes
The Carey fire department battled three incidents last Thursday and Friday. A minor car fire damaged Kermit Peterson’s auto on W North. A lightning strike at Frank Zender’s garage caused the fire that destroyed the office. Total damage to the Zender property was about 350 dollars. A grass fire at Harry Myers’ home south of Carey occurred Saturday afternoon.

Wind Storm Ravages Carey and Surrounding Areas
A severe wind storm caused widespread damage near Carey with downed trees roofs and signs. Seven glass globes blew from White Way lights and power interruptions occurred. Vehicles were displaced and a barn collapsed trapping two cows. Water and gasoline flooded Putnam street basements prompting evacuations and gas safety concerns.

Man Breaks Arm In Fall At Home In Sandusky
Joe Basom of Sandusky slipped on two wet boards Wednesday of last week and fell against his garage, breaking his right arm. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. Family and friends visited during the following days at the hospital after the accident.
