Fubliz School News Operetta and History Talk

The grade school pupils will present their operetta Hansel and Gretel this Friday evening. Lt. Paul DedArmidis of Laredo, Texas, visited the school Friday to share Army experiences in American history. The Ohio general scholarship test for seniors was held at the high school Wednesday due to limited transportation. Kiwanis and Community clubs foster urban rural ties

Carey Kiwanis hosts Carey Community club at Trubey's restaurant for a joint dinner. Rev. Donald W. Cryer and Mark arr spoke, urging collaboration. Discussions covered Victory Gardens, War Bond Drive support, and a bird migration talk by Irvin Tschantz with Q&A. The gathering included a lighthearted session of tall tales.

Giles Krupp Wins State Farmer Award

Giles Krupp of Carey F F A is among 136 Ohio farm youths to earn the State Farmer Award for achievements in farming school and community life. He raised registered Shropshires and sugar beets, suffered a March 1942 flock theft, served as F F A president and senior class vice president, and ranked high in state judging. He is the chapter’s second winner, son of Mr and Mrs Vincent Krupp, west of Carey.

Brief visit of aviation chief radioman Russell L. Stout

Russell L. Stout aviation chief radioman spent from Monday until today visiting his relatives in this locality. He recently was sent to the naval air technical training center in Memphis Tennessee. His wife and daughters Charlotte and Donna remained in Alameda California where he was formerly stationed.

Theft Reported Of Hams From Findlay Street Shed

A shed at the rear of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wyatt on West Findlay Street was broken into on Tuesday evening. Two hams and a piece of sugar cured side meat were stolen in the break in.

Fourteen Carey Men to Join Armed Forces This Weekend

Fourteen men from Carey, eleven joining the Army and three the Navy, depart Friday and Saturday for military service. Donald Healey Frank Sammet and Walter Phillips travel at 1:00 AM Saturday to Columbus for a 7:30 AM train to Great Lakes Naval Training Station to begin Navy service. Others listed depart Friday to Fort Benjamin Harrison Indiana for Army training.

Carey elects to vote on city manager form

A March 8 meeting in Carey village discussed adopting a city manager system. After lengthy debate, officers were urged to pursue voter approval. March 15 a village council committee endorsed the plan, calling for steps to place the issue before voters. Signatories included Mayor Bachar and council members Pahl Heck Markley Huston Scavarse Myers Chambers and the village solicitor.

Refugee to Speak at Christ Lutheran Church

John Pribram a Prague refugee and Findlay college student will address midweek Lenten services at Christ Lutheran Church on Thursday April 1 at 7 30 pm. He recounts Nazi invasion experiences and immigration to the United States with proceeds supporting the local Red Cross plasma program through the D A R.

George William Bloom son of Mr and Mrs Russell Bloom of W North street Carey graduated from an armament school at Lowry Field Colorado He was inducted into the Army at Fort Thomas Kentucky on November 14 1942 He previously served as a Wright Field mechanic in Dayton and was stationed at Clearwater Florida before Lowry Field His wife remains in Dayton

The Wyandot County scrap drive runs from March 29 to April 2. Harry Hudson of Upper Sandusky chairs the effort and asks cooperation from schools grain elevators Farm Bureau and 4 H clubs. Bring scrap metal or rubber to school authorities or local dealers and county trucks will handle pickups.

Carey native receives commission from Altus Advanced Flying School

William G. Spackey Jr. son of Mr and Mrs William Spackey Sr graduates from the AAF Advanced Flying School at Altus Oklahoma and earns a second lieutenant commission in the Air Corps. He attended Carey high school and is among 10 graduates from RAF Gulf Coast Training Center. He carried silver pilots wings and arrives in Carey on leave before reporting April 3 at Fort Jackson South Carolina.

Carey Community Chest plans for April meeting

The Carey Community Chest executive board met at the Dorcas Carey library on March 18 to outline plans for the April 19 annual meeting. A books audit report will be presented by a committee. A nominating committee will present nominees for the election. Miss Betty Allen resigned as secretary. Miss Hilda Jacob was appointed temporary secretary.

American Legion Auxiliary Holds March Meeting

The Earl Green Post No. 344 auxiliary met Monday with a March committee including Mrs Jerome Weinandy and others. Members were urged to save sale tax stamps for April and bring them to the April 26 meeting. The charter was draped for Mrs Grover Snyder. A report on the Columbus conference was shared by Mrs Edward Bakies. Refreshments were served.

Choir of 40 Boys Sings at Our Lady of Consolation

A 40 boy choir aids the 10 30 high mass at Our Lady of Consolation Church since last October. They sing Gregorian chants except during offertory and the closing hymn after mass. Their singing is described as very effective.

The American Red Cross War Fund Drive in Carey is about 1000 dollars short of its 2600 dollar goal. Tuesday evening March 30 members of Justus Lodge No 393 Knights of Pythias plan a patriotic meeting at Castle Hall at 7 oclock.
