Village Council Hones Plans for Bridge Replacements and Annexation

Village council approved Resolution No. 471 to cooperate on bridge replacements over Brown Ditch on N Patterson Street and Spring Run beneath S Vance Street, with the village paying $500 as its share. They deferred wage increases for village employees and awaited Friday session with the solicitor and engineer. The annexation proposal for Bowl Era Lanes east of the village on U S 23 was approved for necessary legislation. Driveway proposal to the park was rejected amid nuisance complaints. An incident involving a jailed drunk caused flooding in several rooms during a later police activity.

The unbeaten Ayersville Pilots 27-0 defeated York of Sandusky 58-32 in the first round and then edged Mt Victory 60-53 at Shawnee High School. Fostorian Killed In Alvada Shooting

Seneca County sheriff says Ronald Crawford 25 of Fostoria is held for investigation in the fatal shooting of Gene DeTillion 33 of Fostoria at Club Azzar Alvada late Tuesday night. Tim Myers and James Danterman are also held for investigation of alleged larceny at the club. Further details awaited after investigation expected to conclude Wednesday night.

Weekend Visit Brings Ulrichs to Chicago for Sightseeing

Benninghoff Couple Mark 58th Anniversary in Bellevue

Mr. and Mrs. Irvin E. Benninghoff of 205 West Findlay Street celebrate 58 years of marriage today. The belated celebration will be held Sunday at the home of their son in law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Newhard. They wed March 23 191], in Bellevue and moved to Carey in 1956. Benninghoff, a West Lodi native, is the youngest of nine children of Levi and Caroline. Catherine Hager, his wife, is the eldest of three children of Louis and Mary. They have four children Lucille Graham and Mildred Nash of Fort Wayne Indiana Lawrence Benninghoff of Bellevue and Charlotte Newhard. They also have 12 grandchildren. Benninghoff retired in 1956 as car inspector for the Nickel Plate Railroad after 400 years with the company. He remains active tending flowers in the Newhard yard and chrysanthemums along the fence.

Raymond A. Schindler formerly formed east of Carey was among 570 graduates at Ohio State University's winter quarter commencement. He received a Bachelor of Science in agriculture. He and his wife Theresa Metzger and their daughter had been living in Columbus while he studied.

Mrs Richard Mewhorter of Salem township was chosen by the Carey Mothers of Twins Club as Mother of Twins of the Year and will compete for Ohio Mother of Twins of the Year at the state convention in Cuyahoga Falls in June. New Post Office Nearing Completion at Carey

The Carey post office is expected to move to its new quarter on N Vance Street opposite the Municipal Building. Postmaster J Schira received authorization from John W Meinhart Cincinnati regional real estate manager to relocate once equipment is installed. A recent inspection shows the new building will be complete and ready by March 31. Huston Lumber Co is constructing and will lease the post office to the Post Office Department under contract.

Carey Jaycees Sponsor First Annual Bowling Tournament

The Carey Jaycees host an ABC approved team and singles bowling event at Bowl-Era Lanes from April 8 to May 27 with weekend-only play. Team events at 1:00 and 6:30 p.m., singles at 3:30 and 9:00 p.m. Prize money of 500 dollars for team winner and 250 dollars for singles winner, entry fees 6 and 4 dollars respectively.
