Harry Stoody returns as chief custodian temporary semi invalid while O Wentling and manual training crew install new doors reducing gym noise. Arthur Wiedlund demonstrates math mastery during an assembly while the yearbook staff checks proofs for May distribution and urges early orders.
The Freshman class presented a chapel program featuring a song, a playlet, and a history segment while rehearsals began for the grade operetta The Magic Bean stalk. School announcements credited Mr Driver and noted upcoming events including Mother Daughter tea, spelling and book reading contests, and flood displacement impacts on nearby Salem students.
The local Methodist Church outlines Lent greetings with daily Palm Sunday to Easter week services at 7 30 p m except Good Friday 3 p m union service at the Lutheran church Sunrise Communion at 6 30 a m Easter worship at 10 30 a m open to all Christian faith and members.
Helen Mitchell, 13 1 2 month old? No, 1 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Homer Mitchell of Wayne Michigan, will perform in a recital at the Bendetson Netzorg School of Piano Inc 5415 Cass Ave Detroit at 3 pm Sunday March 26. She studies with Rebecca Katzman Frohman. Her program includes works by Scarlatti Bach Beethoven Mendelssohn Rubey Schumann Roberts Goodrich Tchaikovsky Mozart Grieg among others with Rebecca Katzman Frohman at second piano. The Mitchell family formerly resided in Carey before moving to Wayne.
Notice from Upper Sandusky relief office states CCC enrollment runs April 1 to April 20. Unemployed youths aged 18 to 24 may enroll by registering at the unemployment office in the courthouse, with hours 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays.

This Thursday evening the Findlay Odd Fellows degree team will visit the local lodge to confer the third degree on candidates from Wharton and Carey. All Carey lodge members are urged to attend. Lunch will be served after the degree work.

Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Moser marked 60 years of marriage with a Sunday family dinner near Carey Wyandot county. Sixty guests including 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild attended. The couple wed March 20 1889 in Salem Township moving from Wharton area by 1927.
In Toledo Blade's Saturday edition a picture on page one shows Mrs. William Mason of Hartford Connecticut formerly Miss Mary Henige of Toledo. She entered the women's division of the 9th annual United States open table tennis tournament at the Athletic Center in Toledo and is the niece of Carey residents Mrs Michael Wentzinger and Mrs gw Walter Carr and Thomas Henige.
Carey Protestant churches plan an afternoon Good Friday service from 1 to 3 o'clock at Christ Lutheran church. Meditations on the Seven Last Words from the Cross will be given by three local and three visiting ministers. Music by the Christ church vested choir directed by Miss Elsie Howard.
At a regular meeting the Carey board of education unanimously hired Earl B. Driver for a new two year term. Driver, previously in Arlington, came to Carey last summer and has been highly regarded for his success in the district.
Only about eight days remain to obtain 1939 auto license tags. The March 31 deadline is firm with no extensions. Deputy Registrar W. Z Campbell urges immediate action.
The Farmers and Sportsmen's Protective association will meet Tuesday March 28 at 8 p.m. at the American Legion hall to decide a permanent meeting place. Members interested in restocking streams and the Ed Brown farm pool near Ca cey are urged to attend as a fish committee investigates the pool condition and reports at the next meeting.
Early reports indicate plenty of birds remaining from last season and surviving winter in good shape. An excess of hens may require releasing more cocks. with nesting season near unfertilized eggs won’t boost numbers.
Dale Baird foreman for National Lime and Stone Co. kilns rebuilding was overcome by monoxide fumes Tuesday while riding in a car owned by David A. Stokes Construction of Columbus. Stokes was seriously affected but drove to a doctor. Baird received care and was taken home. The Bairds stayed at the Almon Blue residence on Findlay street. Mrs. Baird left Prospect to return when called from Carey.
A daughter weighing 7 pounds 3 ounces was born to Mr and Mrs S W McChesney of Carey at Findlay hospital last Thursday evening at 10 45 pm and named Mignon Maybelle. An 8-pound daughter arrived Tuesday evening to Mr and Mrs Ervin Wonder 144 miles west of Carey. An 8-pound daughter was born Monday evening to Dr and Mrs Lowell Treece on Findlay Street. An 8-pound son arrived Wednesday evening to Mr and Mrs Dale England west of Carey.
An extension of time has been granted to April 1, 1939 for the collection of the December 1938 installment of real estate tax. On and after this date tax books will be closed and penalty added. E. C. Richmond Wyandot Co Treasurer.
The Hickory Grove cemetery association holds its annual meeting on Tuesday March 28 at 8 p m at St John s church northwest of Carey. Harry E Thomas serves as Secretary Treasurer.
Theis Furniture Exchange has leased the Hoff room on S Vance street to create a display area for dining room and bedroom suites. Bert Theis says rising demand and low profit margins drive low prices to attract trade from Carey area towns, with ads promoting a very low price on living room suites. The firm also handles General Electric and Gibson refrigerators and furniture across all departments.
Eight Carey residents joined the mid winter Epworth League institute at First Methodist church Findlay from Friday to Sunday. Attendees include Elaine Thome Ruth Heck Norma Jean Gibson Phyllis Ulrich Mildred Whittaker Dorcas Baker Dorotha Mitchell and Rev Marion E Tinsler. Mitchell taught League Methods and Tinsler led The Prophets and the Problems of Life. The group stayed with First Church members and five candidates earned institute certificates.
Dr. Sarkis history professor at Findlay College spoke to the Carey Kiwanis on Behind the Headlines of European News. The talk was well received and sponsored by D. A. Capell. Findlay connections included Judge Paul Capell and guests Junior Kiwanis Corron Stombaugh and W H Huston introduced by Howard Snyder.
The Vanlue rural centralized school glee clubs present the operetta Ask the Professor in the school auditorium Friday March 31 at 8 o'clock. Miss Orvetta Wentling music teacher directs the production.
A intoxicated man was arrested after drawing a knife on Ross Feasel at the National Lime and Stone plant. Feasel, employed there, ordered the intruder off the premises and the assailant threatened him.
Dunn and Roller have started work on 2% miles of highway in Henry county. The road will be 100 to 200 feet wide and 40,000 yards of dirt must be moved. The legal firm bid the work at 99,906.10 dollars.
The Cozy Inn filling station three miles west of Carey was destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon. The fire started when a stove exploded, and owner Glenn Barger and wife lost all household goods and clothing plus cash. They stay with Barger's parents near Findlay water works. Ridge township trustees and Ridge fire protection issues caused delayed response. Vanlue fire department assisted. The station was once the Ridge school built about 65 years ago with memories for many families and former teacher Mrs Chesebro.
Mr and Mrs W H Sloman and daughter Alma attend a large home wedding in the bride Ilah Joy Foy and Francis T Kippenbrook. Fay McKibben sang as the wedding party entered. The couple will live in Cleveland after a brief wedding trip.
On Sunday March 26 Rev Mark Mindrup OMC will speak to students at the Convent School of St Francis Tiffin. The address titled St Francis His Sons and the Missions covers Franciscan missionary activities the Franciscan Missionary Crusade and its domestic and foreign labors. Mindrup a member of the USMC affiliated Crusade unit has long served as a secretary and active missionary worker.
The Rev Joseph Frease director of religious education and young people’s work in the Synod of Ohio will preach the sermon at the morning service. Pastor Rev Paul R Clouser will be present and conduct the service. Mrs Joseph Frease soprano soloist will sing an offertory solo.
Doris Edgington daughter of D S Edgington Patterson and Sylvester Eingle son of Forest Eingle Carey wed Tuesday at Patterson Methodist parsonage. Rev Corwin Bailey officiated. They will live with the groom’s parents for now.
