The second annual high school boys conference set for March 23 aims to foster fellowship through discussion groups on school home church and college relations plus student faculty ties. A banquet, registration by March 20, and an address by Mr Eyman of Poland are scheduled with a 55 cent fee.
All elementary grades will display projects on dedication day Thursday March 26 with four West building grades exhibiting in the Colonel Crawford music room. PTA plans a meeting Thursday afternoon at 9:30 to discuss the event details.
This week’s chapel program led Tuesday morning by Miss Bollinger’s junior home room opened with The Church in the Wildwood and included devotions by Mary Trachsel. Ruby Rothgeb sang That’s What Ireland Means to Me with Miss Rollinger on piano, and a vocal duet My Wild Irish Rose by Rothgeb and Wentling with harmonica by Martha Platt. A humorous feature was Forty Years Hence a dialogue by Wentling and Ruehle about high school life 40 years from now. The program closed with Rowing Not Drifting. The high school dramatic club met Friday to plan an April 1 party. Dr Leonard N Myers buys the Cottage Hotel on Fennen Avenue in Cheyenne Wells and plans a full renovation to create a well equipped eastern Colorado hospital. The building, originally erected by D Kaufman for hospital use, was later a hotel. Dr Myers aims to reduce patient travel and save lives by providing local care. He will visit Carey this summer to bring his parents Mrs and Mr Joseph Myers for vacation as Mrs Myers improves after ten weeks of illness.
A week of evangelistic services runs Mar 29 to Apr 4 at Memorial Evangelical Church led by Rev O D Myers. The event promises heart searching, blessing and rejoicing as the gospel is preached by the speaker who can make grace abound.
Edward Riester files in common pleas court asking for a money judgment of 13389 plus interest against Harry R Beis both residents of Crawford township. The petition was filed through attorney H G Chambers of Carey.
On Thursday evening Blue Lodge inspection drew W Beis Mayor Ed Campbell Jr Luther Haines W R Zeis Gust Summit Alex Stewart W B Maffett and W R Thomas. A fine dinner followed with music by Bring man's orchestra and a reception at Upper Sandusky.
H W Johnson, representative of the Supreme Council, will tour five Ohio councils during the week of March 23. He will visit Tiffin Upper Sandusky Carey Fostoria and Fremont councils and meet with officers and members. He will discuss business administration and report on Supreme Council activities including the boy work program. The order runs the Notre Dame graduate boy guidance course and ten night boyology institutes. The Columbian Squires operate in many regions. Insurance in force stands at 288 304 040 with liabilities 23 370 629 and assets to liabilities at 130.44 percent with a 3.44 percent safety margin.
A second large gas well on B E B Powell & Sons Buckeye stock farm near McCutchenville ended Wednesday noon at about 1,500 feet with 1 250 000 cubic feet daily. Jones and Coyle of Cleveland halted work after a gas surge at the 20 foot sand level. Ohio Fuel Gas Co may contract for the supply. Drilling moves to Grant Long and Josephine Long farm nearby with work expected to start soon.
Rev R J Turrell will present a reading from Jerome K Jerome's All Roads Lead to Calvary at the Methodist Church Sunday night. The piece follows his religious literature legacy and is suited for the Lenten season.
The local Knights of Columbus will attend Holy Communion in a body at 7 30 on Sunday March 22. A breakfast follows at the Pilgrim House. On March 25 a Supreme Council inspector will attend the regular meeting, with District Deputy F A Hinchey of Tiffin also present.
The Wishing Well a musical comedy in three acts will be presented by the Vanlue school Glee Clubs on Friday evening March 20 1931. Margery O Alspach directs and Helen Haggerty is the pianist.
The Women of Mooseheart Legion announce Past Regent night next Tuesday. Past Regents will occupy all chairs and are urged to attend.
William P Slater of S Patterson street died at Mercy hospital Tiffin Friday morning after a month long illness and operation. He was born May 14 1859 in Butler Pennsylvania and survived by wife Ellen Broody and four children. Funeral held at Our Lady of Consolation church with interment in St Marys cemetery. he was a city water works engineer and a member of Carey Council 1925 K of C.

Last Friday Harry Ehrlich recovered his Ford coupe stolen the prior Saturday from a parking space near Findlay and Vance streets. The car was found in Lima about midnight Saturday, undamaged, after the Allen County sheriff traced the license number and located the owner.
The county convention of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the ME church meets Wednesday March 25 at the local church. Sessions begin at 9 00 o'clock with a morning and afternoon program and special speakers. A light luncheon will be served at noon in the church basement. The public is invited.
W M Flagg of Toledo will open a modern bakery in the Kurtz room two doors east of the post office on Saturday. The room has been redecorated with attractive display windows. Mr Flagg offers an opening special for Saturday.
The local Farm Bureau held a regular Wednesday meeting at Moose hall with three out-of-town speakers. An entertaining program preceded a lunch served to 22 members and their families.
The third quarterly conference of Memorial Evangelical church is set for 7 30 p m on March 265. D L Caldwell presiding elder of Toledo district leads the session and officers will submit written reports. O D Myers pastor.
Charles Nye died Friday afternoon at Findlay Home and Hospital after three days ill with bowel obstruction. Born at Mt Vernon to Carl H. and Clara Nye he leaves wife formerly Hazel Montague and half-brother Kenneth Nye of Detroit. He resided in Carey about five years and belonged to Christ Lutheran Church. Burial in Spring Grove Cemetery. Funeral attended by relatives including Frank Nye and Clara Fisher.
Card from Mrs. Charles Nye and Mrs. Clara Fisher thanks neighbors and friends for assistance during their recent bereavement. They acknowledge flowers, car transportation for the funeral, singers, and Rev. Clouser for comforting words.
Crawford chapter No. 168 O E S holds regular meeting Friday at 7 30 with initiatory work followed by a social and short program. Officers act as social committee. Attendees include Mrs Ella Smith Mrs Margaret Dow and others from district No 10. Carey now part of District 12.
Mrs. John Hendricks learns of the death of her father John Dietrick age 85 at 2:30 pm Wednesday at his son Charles’s home in Tiffin. Born in New Riegel he lived in Carey and is survived by his widow two daughters Mrs Hendricks and Mrs James Hanley of Gallon and his son Charles. Funeral services Friday with at home prayer then burial at Dunkirk. Mrs Hendricks is ill and will not attend.
This week the men form the choir for Thursday night Lenten service at the Lutheran church. Attendance grows as the pastor continues a series of devotional talks on Prayer. The Rev Wayne Kantner of Tiffin will speak on the subject What is Prayer.
A Kiwanis noon gathering heard F A Galbroner outline his Arizona trip while Daryl Mover and Halle Turnbell of Boy Scout Troop gave brief talks urging the club to assist in securing a scoutmaster for their troop. Twenty nine members attended.
The Auxiliary of the American Legion will hold its regular meeting Monday evening March 23. The social committee includes Mrs. L. M. Remlinger Mrs. C. C. Simonis Mrs. Paul Krupp and Mrs. C. B. Myers. All members are urged to be present.
The Wyandot historical pageant in dedication of Colonel Crawford building moves to Thursday March 26 at 8 30 PM to avoid Lent services. The cast lists Colonel William Crawford Mark Karr Mrs Crawford Janis Wenner Sarah Goldie Rothgeb Major William Harrison John Dow Jack De Witt and many others with Indian roles and a 20 child chorus. Music by Carey High School Orchestra directed by Millicent Warren, three act structure ending in The Heritage. Cast subject to change. corrections to follow next week.
Mes Ernest Fox purchased Urban Wangler's property on Muncie Street now occupied by Mullholand Bros. She intends to take possession soon. The deal was made through the H G Feasel agency.
The regular meeting of Rebekah lodge will be held next Tuesday evening March 24. A pot luck supper and social time will follow the business meeting.
