Carey Cagers Fall to Rossford in District Final

Carey Blue Devils, 22-0, saw their perfect season end with a 70-52 defeat to Rossford at Anderson Arena Bowling Green State University. Carey trailed 22-7 after one, narrowed to 35-21 at halftime, and could not overcome a 23-12 third period surge by Rossford. Key scorers included Orians with 12, Cole 13, Myers 11, and Kloepfer 10. both teams lost a player in a fourth-quarter melee.

Knights of Pythias District Meeting Held in February

Justus Lodge 393 met at 8 PM with District Deputy John Kempher presiding. Carey Lodge earned ribbons for new members and lodge turnout. Glenn Miller John Lay and George Epley received Bank of Knight honors. Visitors from Sycamore Bloomville Nevada and Carey attended and a chicken dinner followed for about thirty guests.

Carey Board Seeks Staffing Upgrades After Evaluation

The Carey Board of Education in regular session reviews the North Central Association evaluation of Carey High School. The Rev Thomas Aeschbacher OFM Conv attended the Third Order of St. Francis meeting at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Milwaukee for the annual visitation. Death claims Roy C. Howard at 65 in Mt. Blanchard area

Roy C. Howard, 65, of 243 High Street, died of a heart attack at home Saturday March 12. He owned the Howard Dry Cleaning, was a Christ Lutheran Church member and a Yoder Fellows Lodge member. Born October 21, 1900, in Mt. Blanchard, he is survived by his wife Ova. a son William. sisters Lela Cross and Oral Hartman. a brother. and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 15 at Christ Lutheran Church, with burial at Lee Cemetery in Vanlue. Funeral arrangements were by Goff Funeral Home.

Fire Leaves Sycamore Area Family Homeless

Mr and Mrs Homer P Vince reportedly lost all their household possessions in a fire last Saturday morning at 530 two miles sou of Sycamore. The home on land owned by David J Needs was a total loss with aid from Sycamore and McCutchenville fire departments. Red Cross workers were called for emergency help and details on the Vince children were not available.

Garey School Science Fair Set For Mar 21

Garey School holds its first science fair March 21 in the gym with about 400 projects on display. Judging starts at 3 pm. students must stay with their projects until judged. Grades 7 to 12 science students must display a project. Projects judged by teachers, science majors, a college professor, and local professionals. Superior ratings advance to the district fair at He delbert College on April 2, then potentially to Columbus for the state contest. Public viewing after 5 pm Monday. invites to attend.
