Arcadia High beat Carey High 44 to 16 at Arcadia with a 28 to 6 halftime lead. In the second half Carey adjusted but still trailed, scoring 10 to Arcadia's 16. Arcadia are Hancock County champions for 1921 and 1922 seasons. Twining led Carey with five baskets.
The Junior Square Deals of Upper Sandusky faced a puncture disaster at Wharton last Saturday night. They fought hard but arrived too late as a large Wharton crowd melted away before the team. Dirt roads at the time were a fright.
Harry Pierce underwent a hernia operation Wednesday at Mercy Hospital Tiffin with Dr Wenner as the surgeon. Garden seeds are now ready at Ewing Drug Co.
W H Phelps reports strong progress in forming the Wyandot County Auto Club affiliated with state and national groups. Dues support state motoring legislation research as the county joins neighboring counties already organized to protect local automotive interests.
Professor J E Hagerty dean of the college of commerce and journalism will address the local National Catholic Welfare Council at Catholic Hall this evening on problems of social reconstruction.
Li A Conklin former editor of the Advertiser was appointed postmaster at Forest on the recommendation of Congressman Cole.
Next Sunday night at the Methodist Church a series of pictures will illustrate The Greatest Question of the World. The event invites all to attend the program in the church hall.
The Kiwanis Club heard Mr. W. H. Schaefer speak on The Boy Problem, stressing hobbies and constructive work for at risk youths. He cited Ohio and other states’ efforts, named founders of youth movements, and announced upcoming Inter-City Meet, Ladies Night, and Carey Clean-Up Day with E. C. Harshberger winning the day’s prize.
Revival meetings at the United Brethren church begin March 19 with Evangelist Carl Vernon Roop of Findlay, aiding Pastor Rev. L. C. Reed. A women’s meeting at 2 00 p m on March 23 and a men’s meeting at 2 30 p m on March 26 are planned, with nightly sessions at 7 30 p m. Wel come to all.
The Epworth League hosts its monthly social at the Methodist church this evening. A community singing will lead to the social hour starting at 7 30. Words of familiar songs will be projected on screen for the crowd to sing. All are invited to attend.
The evangelistic campaign led by Rev W F Martin will run from Sunday March 26 through Easter April 16. Services occur every evening except Saturday at 7 30 with Mr Alfred Shumate of Lima as soloist and chorus leader.
Theodore Myers appointed manager to succeed C. M. Wenner who returns to his farm north of town. Wayne Powell serves as assistant and is fully familiar with the station’s operations.
Lloyd Logsdon moves from the E.M. Keller farm west of town to the 40 acre Steen farm on the Findlay Carey road now occupied by Bens Brayton. Walter Cole plans to move to the Keller place to reside.
County Surveyor Charles F. Ellis posts notices countywide announcing a load limit of 300 pounds per inch of width for all vehicles on county roads.

Last Thursday noon the 35 girls in two domestic science classes under Miss Cleo Gledhill served a cafeteria dinner to 125 people including scholars and teachers. They offered about 25 dishes from soup to dessert and cooked all but rolls and bread in class. The event, run in 30 minutes with orderly service, yielded about $30 profit from $50 taken.
Clerk John Stoody presents February figures listing deaths on Feb 2 and multiple births including sons and daughters to entries such as Chas Calmés, Herman Derr, Alfred Ruffing, Alois Goeminne, John Clark, Earl Moser, Arch Donelson, Russell Presser, and John Greeno.
J T Halstead returned from Columbus where he attended an enthusiastic Cornstalk club meeting in the house of representatives this week. A state organization was perfected and another meeting will be held next month inviting all interested persons. The club comprises members and former members of the Ohio state legislature and aims to cooperate with farmers.
Gir L Y Slout and his Where- U-Wish theatre party appear at the high school auditorium Friday evening March 24 at 8 30. Admission 50 cents reserved seats at Hwing's DPS store March 23 at 7 70 pm. Five members of the company have a repertoire of plays they present.
Local World War veterans receive their bonus checks at a lively pace this week led by George Newhard as the first recipient. A Where-U-Wish Theatre Party is planned at the high school auditorium Friday, March 24, with seats reserved at Ewing's on Thursday the 23rd at 4:00 p.m.
The Carey Maroons basketball team defeated the Nevada Legion 54 to 12, lost 40 to 25 at Kenton to the Caseys, and beat Wharton 29 to 23. They host Eden Community at the high school auditorium at 8 15 this Friday, a rematch after Eden’s earlier wins over Nevada Legionaires.
State health authorities investigate Green Springs water amid complaints the odor resembles decayed eggs. The springs have drawn visitors since aboriginal times for supposed curative properties, and officials expect a costly inquiry with uncertain results.
Johnson and Miller moved their Ford sales room to the annex on the east side of S Vance street and have partitioned off the south side for display and office purposes. Forest Stoll who bought the Ford garage is remodeling that facility with Wilfred Stoll and Paul Calmes employed by Mr. Stoll.
A petition filed in Tiffin by 75 percent of Sand Ridge Lowell and Bogart district taxpayers asks to set aside their districts and annex them to Green Springs. The move would boost enrollment if approved by the county board, with no evident reason against it.
A masquerade and 10c social will be held in the Pythian Hall on March 23. All Pythian Sisters and Heights that are Pythians are invited. A fine will be charged to those not masked. A pot luck supper will follow with each attendee asked to bring a dish and sandwiches.
The losing side in the recent contest by the W B A of the Maccabees will entertain the winners at Moose Hall Friday evening March 17 at 7 30 o clock.
Moose Hall housed Crawford Ridge township farm bureau as members and guests gathered for a program led by President H F Boynton. John Dow reported on the state farm bureau convention. several speakers discussed livestock, fertilizer pools, seed testing, and 1922 farm bureau plans.
A Carey Ohio gathering surprised Mr and Mrs Fred Nachbar on their golden wedding anniversary. Married March 11 1872 in Bucyrus Mrs Clara Coulter Nachbar’s name. Relatives from Carey Upper Sandusky attended a noon chicken dinner with a bride cake and many presents.
Mr and Mrs Paul Calmes announce their marriage which occurred June 10 1921 at Coldwater Michigan by Rev Robert Wrigh pastor of the Methodist church. Mrs Calmes formerly Miss Hattie Stoll daughter of Henry Stoll resided in Carey since January 1921 and is a linotype operator at the Times office. Mr Calmes son of Mrs C H Hull has a Ford garage position. Friends extend congratulations.
Charles Weaver watchman for National Milling Co stands trial in Common Pleas before Judge Ritchie for the December 26 slaying of Joseph Manore at Main Street and EH Broadway. The state contends Weaver tried to search for liquor without authority and shot Manore.
Democrats of the county will hold a Jefferson Day banquet in early April at Upper Sandusky. Nationally prominent speakers will attend and guests will include Democrats from the entire eighth district.
Rev L P Speaker of Battle Creek Mich has accepted a call to the local Lutheran church and will preach next Sunday in the morning and evening. Evening service at 7 30. A meeting or event is set for the high school auditorium Friday March 24 with reserved seats at Ewings Thursday March 23 at 4 00 pm.
