The 4th to 6th graders present "Let's Pretend" at 8 p.m. Friday in the Carey High School auditorium directed by Miss Dorothy Dickey. Each class acts and there will be singing and dancing for a lively program parents are urged to attend.
Wanda Maenle a former Carey High student now a senior at St Joseph's High Fremont stars as Ensign Nellie Forbush in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific. The lead comes as her parents Mr and Mrs J E Maenle of 116 S Clover Street Fremont attend the Saturday and Sunday performances at 8 15 P M.
The Carey High School Concert Band directed by John Gregory performs seven Marches on March 22 with Paula Powell as student conductor leading National Emblem. Three pieces are slated for the District II Band Festival in Clyde the next day for ratings comparison with judges.
Carey Police cases report three defendants with pleas and fines. Frederick Nye of Delaware pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace. 10 day jail term suspended if he avoids Carey for six months after March 23 1963. Norman Wolfrum of Findlay was fined for speeding. William Kerry of Wyandot County Home faced driving without a license, fined 25 dollars plus costs and 10 days jail suspended but he jailed for nonpayment.
Harding Area Council records show 1962 year end totals of 2808 boys and 1128 adults enrolled in the Boy Scouts program. Cub Scouts number 1500 in 41 packs, 48 Boy Scout troops total 1091 members, and 217 Explorers in 13 units. The committee led by Norman Fogt aims to top 3000 in 1963 with district leaders James Baker and Otto Palenshus overseeing Evergreen and Chief Tarhe districts.
Forty seven Carey instrumental music students competed at Fremont Ross High School with over 45 schools participating. Under John Gregory, most earned two or more events with top ratings including Brass quartets, Woodwind quartets, and brass sextets earning Ratings II and III for strong performances.
Ohio 4 H to honor about 1200 advisors at a March 21 luncheon in the Ohio Union on the Ohio State University campus. Thirty five and thirty year recipients will receive sapphire and ruby pins with several from Wyandot county named for ten and five years of service. Mrs James Bush Brown will speak and share experiences in promoting gardening in low income Philadelphia areas through 4 H clubs and a Neighborhood Garden Association.
Adrian area residents report moves and visits as the Carroll Hill family relocates to the Grine farm east of Adrian, Gerald Hill takes the vacated house, Rebecca Gracia visits from Mc Cutchenville, and a group including the Dirmeyers and Pahls joins Edward Collet for a Sunday gathering.

Heck son of Mr and Mrs Paul Heck of Carey Ohio made his first solo flight as a student pilot in Training Squadron One at the Naval Auxiliary Air Station Saufley Field Pensacola Florida The milestone qualifies him to begin the precision flying phase and after completion will advance to further aviation instruction.
Mrs Caroline B Pifer guided careers as part of the 7th Guidance Frontiers Conference held March 2 at the Ohio Union Ohio State University Columbus. Dr Gary Walz discussed practicum future and John Odgers outlined Ohio counselor goals including one per 300 students by 1970 on the secondary level and staff for elementary levels.
Henry Pieracini received a personal note from Congressman Betts congratulating him on retiring March 1 as chief of the Carey Police Department. The message came with a folder lid reading I Read Something About You and a clipped retirement story on the other page. Pieracini will become a local sales representative for Chester P. Smith Monuments in Findlay.
A trap shoot event will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday southwest of Mt. Blanchard at the Mt. Blanchard Gun Club. Prizes will be awarded at 4 p.m. Local shooters are invited to participate.
The Carey Jaycees announce the 3rd annual bowling tournament starting March 30 at Bowl Era Lanes. It is a handicap singles event with 300 first prize and 200 second prize guaranteed. team entries are dropped. High actual game prizes range from 50 to 15 dollars. Deadline is midnight March 29. entry fee 9.25 dollars with 5 dollars due at entry.
Earl Green Post No. 344 Carey joins nearly 3 million comrades in a March 15 to 17 birthday celebration marking the 44th anniversary of the American Legion founded in 1919 in Paris. James E. Powers urges making it an American Legion Showcase highlighting the four programs. The local observance includes a 6:30 p.m. tureen dinner with meat rolls coffee and entertainment.
The Annual Pre-school Roundup will be held at Carey High School on Monday April 10 at 9 30 a m for ages A K and 1 30 p m for ages L 7 in the clinic room above the superintendent s office Birth certificates are required for children entering first grade in 1962 63 and a sixth birthday must be by November 1 Health record forms are available from the superintendent or building principal and should be completed ahead of roundup day.
Upper Sandusky Municipal Court handled 91 cases in February. The Ohio Highway Patrol filed 71 cases and Wyandot County Sheriff 16. Three by Upper Sandusky Police and one by Carey Police. The court distributed 2162.50 to various treasurers and associations, with 12 civil cases filed and 8 settled, plus costs disbursed for two trustee cases and to the Law Library Association and sheriff.
Lyon's Food Center Inc. sues Richard Messmer and Charles Messmer for $24.14 and $50 plus costs in municipal court. Erlin Elevator & Supply Co. sues Howard Burkin of Sycamore for $75.90 plus interest and costs.
A St Patrick’s Dance runs 9:30 to 12:30 Saturday night at the Carey VFW Post with live music by Russ Fagan. Proceeds support post activities.
Carl Eugene Hucke 21 son of Mr and Mrs Nicholas T Hucke northeast of Carey on S R 509 recently enlisted in the Navy for three years. A Carey High School 1959 graduate he attended Alliance Technical Institute Cambridge Pa 1959 to 1961. He is in nine weeks of recruit training at San Diego California and will be eligible for a 14 day leave after completion.
Carey Kiwanis Club guests hear Miss Ann Drumel of Ohio Fuel Gas Co. explain underground storage and pipelines. She highlights petrochemistry uses and gas's role in manufacturing and day to day items. Group singing followed. church appearances set for April.
A committee to select leadership for a $200000 Girl Scout camp project was announced by Mrs. Louis J. Ott Mansfield president of the board. The plan covers a 256 acre site six miles southeast of Loudonville with facilities for 120 girls including dining, infirmary, pool, staff house and 5 unit camps.
The name of Mrs. Harold Shiley was inadvertently omitted from the list of solicitors for the Heart Fund Drive reported in last week's Carey Times.
The Carey Jaycee Ettes host a benefit style show tonight at 8 for Mrs. Robert D. Hunter’s family. Friars of Our Lady of Carey Seminary perform with two numbers by Mrs. Buckland. Door prizes, fashion modeling by sponsoring members and daughters, and all cotton outfits from National Cotton Council McCall's patterns mark the event. Tickets 75 cents adults 50 cents children.
Mrs Zack Montgomery of Findlay will be guest speaker at the Wyandot County Home Demonstration Achievement Day in Harpster Methodist Church on Friday April 5. The program includes slides from her Ohio participation in the Associated Country Women of the World, a Tailoring Class style show, devotions, music, and officer installations. Luncheon tickets are sold by local volunteers and in the Extension Office.
The Carey CYO Girls volleyball team captured the tournament crown at New Riege, their third title in four years and continuing three straight league championships. They defeated Findlay in earlier rounds and beat New Riegel 15 10 and 15 9 in the final, with seniors Riester Ortans Logsdon Jenot Unverferth ending their careers.
The Carey Church of Christ in Christian Union will hold revival services March 15 to 24 with Rev. Ray Smith of Shinglehouse Pa as guest speaker. Services start at 7 30 each evening and feature special singing. Rev Robert Trimble invites all to attend at 444 miles northwest of Carey on SR 15.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile collected 91 pints of blood in Carey last Wednesday. Mrs. Wallace Dible thanked donors and helpers. new gallon donor Donald Traxler joined, and Mrs. Grant Gibson became a gallon donor. Numerous volunteers and staff from canteen to nurses and doctors supported the drive, with Christ Lutheran Church women providing cookies. A long list of donors followed, including friars, bartenders, and community members from Sycamore, Traxler families, and local groups.
Mr and Mrs North Clemons have bought the lot at S Vance and W South Streets beside the American Legion Hall. They plan a 1964 foot brickcrete building housing a beauty and barber shop with an upstairs apartment for residence. Mrs Clemons will run Patricia Ann Beauty Salon from the new location.
A meeting important to the future progress of the Carey Conservation Sportsman Association will be held at 2 30 p m Sunday at the Recreation Park club house. All members are urged to attend.
