Arcadia Wins Class B Basketball Crown At Carey

Arcadia Hancock county defeated North Baltimore 33 to 22 in the semifinal and beat Tiro 42 to 25 in the final to capture the Class B district tournament held in Carey. Tiro had edged Lake township 34 to 33 to reach the district final.

Special Subjects at Methodist Church

Rev A C Rainsberger will preach on What Should the Preached Word Include in a Sunday evening sermon. The talk will explore how far the Gospel should address politics labor and social issues today. A special song and praise service will accompany the sermon.

Wyandot County Young People Conference Set

The 22nd annual Wyandot county Young People's Conference will be held this Saturday at the Reformed church in McCutchenville. The theme is Christian Youth Building a New World with sessions all day starting at 9:30 am. Rev Paul Lamars will speak in the morning, Rev Paul R Clouser in the afternoon, followed by group discussions and a pageant by local youth. Representatives from three local Protestant churches are expected.

Carey Boys 4-H Club Holds First 1935 Meeting

Carey boys 4-H club met on March 12 with Mr Kirkbride presenting diplomas to last year’s graduates. Merchants issue merchandise cards to curb sales tax

Carey merchants are issuing merchandise cards in 1 to 5 denominations to limit sales tax to three percent. The cards allow customers to buy any quantity anytime with tax never exceeding 3 percent, potentially reducing purchases driven by tax considerations. Pipe Organ Dedicated at Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation

The Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation solemnly dedicated a two manual pipe organ in the lower church last Sunday. Rev Paul Vollrath officiated at the 10 o'clock High Mass. Rev Giles M Berthiaume supervised the program with Ralph Brown directing the choir performing Leonard Mass in E flat, Ave Maria by Rosewig sung by the schoolchildren, and Panis Angelicus in four parts by the major choir.

Junk yard expansion near Standard Oil bulk station

Joe Silverstein has bought from Standard Oil Co. its abandoned bulk station on West Brown Avenue adjoining his junk yard to the west. The purchase includes seven lots 50 by 103 feet and the buildings. Standard will remove the tanks.

Mrs. Claude Beitler of Sycamore spoke at the local P T A meeting in the high school auditorium discussing Albert Edward Wiggam's The Marks of an Educated Man. Supt Beitler of Sycamore and Carey school former superintendent attended and spoke briefly. Carey’s German band performed a brief program to excellent reception. Officers for the coming year were elected: Mrs Earl Moser president, Mrs Paul R Clouser vice president, Miss Louise Romig secretary, C C Thome treasurer. The April meeting will install the new officers.

Lucille Elmore and Company Herf Friday at Carey High

On Friday evening March 15 the Lyceum course final program will be presented at the Carey high school auditorium by Lucille Elmore and her company of versatile musicians. Pneumonia Fatal to Milt Thomas

Milton Henry Thomas a 56 year old Biglick township trustee and Hancock county farmer died of pneumonia at his home. Funeral services were held at St Johns church with multiple Brethren ministers and singers assisting. He was born October 22 1878 and survived by wife Mary and two adopted children. He was a longtime singer with the Biglick quartet and a Church of the Brethren member for 38 years.

On Monday evening R M Lonsway was reelected chairman of the 1935 ecorn hog administration in Crawford township. Funeral Attendees Reach Delphos for Obituary of Oliver Rosselli

Mrs Joseph Myers and Mr and Mrs R E Kurtz and Mrs C B Myers traveled to Delphos last Thursday evening for the death of Oliver Rosselli father in law to Charles Myers of Delphos. Rosselli died Wednesday morning and was buried Saturday at age 63. Mrs Joseph Myers stayed in Delphos until Tuesday evening.
