Geography Stories From Our Room Expand To Six

Last week four stories by pupils in our room were printed. This week two more students contributed new geography narratives, expanding the display and showcasing diverse local perspectives.

Carey Minister Resigns Post

Rev. Paul R. Clouser submitted his resignation to the Christ Lutheran Church Carey congregation to accept a call to St. Peter's Church Middletown Pennsylvania. He will leave Carey in late April and begin his new pastorate May 1 after more than fourteen years of service as the church’s longest serving pastor.

Carey Style Shop sold to Mrs Hilda Lee

I Kessler has sold his interest in the Cat Style Shop to Mrs. Hilda Lee who has been a partner in the store for some time. Mr Kessler will leave Carey on Thursday for Los Angeles where he will make his future home. His wife and daughters are already there. He and his wife opened the Style Shop in September 1915. Friends wish them success in their new home.

Funeral services for Mrs Emmaline Loomis near West Independence

Attendants included Mr and Mrs Alton Loomis and Mr and Mrs Irvin Markley with son Junior of Bucyrus and Mrs Noble Ales and son Jimmy of Carey. Mrs Emmaline Jane Loomis, nearly 82, passed away prompting the Friday service at the Iran Stefler residence.

Volunteer workers painted 13 rooms two halls the foyer and a large stairway at the Methodist church including the pastor's study and classrooms. Labor valued at at least 100 with many individuals and groups contributing funds and time. The congregation plans to redecorate the sanctuary next year.

Car Crashes Into Healey's Tavern On Route 23

C. R. Oansley of Detroit driving a 1939 Buick crashed into the front of Healey's Tavern north of Carey on Route 23 Tuesday night about 11 30 o'clock. The impact tore the porch loose causing about 155 dollars in damage. The car was wrecked and stored at Ed's garage awaiting insurance adjusters.

Monoxide Fumes Strangle 80 Year Old Man in Bath

Joseph Myers aged 80 was overcome by monoxide fumes in his bathroom on Saturday morning at his home on North Vance street. His niece Miss Helen Courtad found him unconscious after he had finished a bath and dressed. A local physician treated him with stimulants and oxygen. he is slowly improving and expected to be up in a few days.

The Carey Community Institute group met Friday in Upper Sandusky with 28 attendees. State supervisor J. Schmidt attended as tentative 1942 institute plans were reviewed and local officers will meet with speakers to ensure useful sessions.
