Carey High School in the final concert of the school year directed by Don Parfitt occurs Friday March 12 at 8:00 p.m. A good will offering will be taken with no admission charge. Sousa marches, a comedy sketch The Three Bears and a trumpet solo by Eugene Ulrich are on the program.
Mrs. Frank Kinsinger of Carey received the Allied Post dated February 6 1943 from her son Pfc Alton Kinsinger in North Africa. The 19 year old American private and harmonica player tapped and sang in a revue titled Evening Dress Only which halted the performance. the act featured Andree Moucan a French girl who spoke no English. The revue included two original songs by Henry Caldwell and Edward Jones with Harry Mennell directing the music and Cedric Woods as stage director at Drury Lane.
The Soul Winner's class of the Evangelical Sunday school holds its March gathering in the church basement on Saturday at 8 00 PM. Leader Galen Bame, the president, will lead a roll call with members answering Scripture verses. Pvt Samuel C Newcomer will attend before returning to San Antonio Texas next week.
Carey Chapter No 159 and McCutchen Chapter No 96 will confer the Master degree on candidates from both chapters at a special convocation in Carey on Thursday evening March 11 with a lunch to follow. High Priest Eugene T. Lab invites companions to attend and greet the neighboring chapter.
A representative from the Marion field office of the Social Security board will attend Carey’s municipal building on Wednesday March 17 from 3 00 to 4 00 p m Beatrice A Bishop manager announced this.
Regular meeting of Carey Lodge No. 420 F. and A. M. announced for Friday evening. Work will be in the apprentice degree. G. W. Snyder, W. M.
Lenten services will be held weekly at 8 00 p m at the shrine church on Wednesdays and Fridays during Lent. Wednesday sermons on Christian marriage will be delivered by Fr Ambrose Fr Joseph and Fr Aidan. Friday services include the Way of the Cross and Benediction with 3 30 p m sessions for school children.
The Red Cross War Fund drive in Carey began March 1 with canvassing by solicitors led by Chairman John Jacoby Sr. and targets $2,600 for Carey. Sycamore village and township reports show volunteers over the March quota of 590 for the town and 250 for the township, with Salem township joining the effort at least 450 toward a 295 assignment.
Paul L. Plotts son of Mr and Mrs Truman Plotts of Alvada enlisted in Detroit last week in the Navy flight training program for 17 year old seniors and graduates. He awaits start of a 16 months course to earn Wings of Gold and a commission as ensign in the Naval Reserve or second lieutenant in the Marine Corps Reserve. He graduated Arcadia High School in 1942 and earned three sports letters including two in football and one in basketball.
The Women’s Missionary Society of Christ Lutheran Church along with the Jennie Larmonth Missionary societies and the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of Memorial Evangelical and Methodist churches organize a World Day of Prayer service at Christ Lutheran Church. The event takes place Friday at 2 30 PM with a special program and the public is invited.
Scott Buckland notes that Robert Binkley, formerly of Carey and now stationed in Childress Texas, has been promoted from sergeant to staff sergeant. Binkley serves as an air crew chief on training planes.
Wyandot County Treasurer Charles B. Martin announces the real estate tax books will close Saturday March 20 1943 with a penalty after that date. Deputy Karl F. Kraus aids in the notice.
Round and square dancing fills the Moose hall Saturday evening. Music provided by Buckeye Entertainers for attendees.

A public vote will decide whether Carey school district residents keep standard time or switch to Central War Time. A meeting chaired by H G Chambers formed the plan, with F F A volunteers and scouts distributing ballots for a per household vote. Ballots collected Friday will be counted by the village council, requiring a signed ballot from the family head.

Paessler F H of Upper Sandusky formerly with Walker dry goods took over as manager of the Flox store in Carey on Monday. He and his wife have rented the Shumate apartment on W Findlay Street.

Pvt. Donald W. Reinhart son of Mr and Mrs L A Reinhart route 2 Carey has graduated from an intensive aviation mechanics course at Sheppard Field near Wichita Falls Texas. He now is eligible to become bomber crew chief and to win a rating as corporal or sergeant. The training centers of the Air Forces technical training command prepare technicians for combat aircraft while teaching protection and offense as well as repair.
At a regular meeting Rev. Donald W. Cryer outlined Kiwanis International 1943 objectives. Marion scout executive Hugh Hay spoke. Charles Laube explained last weekend gas emergency. Officers planned inviting Carey Community Club to March 22. Earl F. Cline and W J Jefferson lead March programs.
Wyandot county commissioners vote to set courthouse clocks to Ohio time at midnight Friday March 12. The resolution makes all courthouse clocks run on Ohio time under the new state law.
The Mary-Martha class of Christ Lutheran Sunday school will hold a kid party at the home of Mrs Early Driver on W Findlay street Monday evening March 15. Hostesses include Mrs Dean Powell Mrs F Abel Mrs D J Frazier and Mrs T D Romig. Members in costume should bring donations for service boxes.
The 60 pound daughter born Monday March 1 to Mr and Mrs Sylvester Jesko was baptized Sunday at Our Lady of Consolation Church. Rev Ambrose Finnegan of Co M C officiated with sponsors Emmet Kin of Forest and Mrs Edmund Kin of Carew. Wanda Lou was given as her name.

The Wyandot county draft board prepares a large call with 102 men on the list. Some older men may be deferred as younger volunteers reduce immediate needs. The first group includes Carey Charles Clark and several dozen other named residents, with additional names listed for subsequent calls.
Pvt Allan G. Smith Jr., son of Mr and Mrs Allan G. Smith of Carey, earned his diploma as an expert airplane mechanic at Keesler Field B-24 Liberator bomber school in Mississippi. He joined the Army September 21, 1942, trained at St Petersburg, then at Keesler, now ready for active line duty.
The Marfa Army Air Field Advanced Flying School in Marfa Texas announces the graduation of class 43 C pilots on Wednesday at 10 00 am at Marfa Air Base. Avice Orion D Wilgus O Carey will receive his commission as a second lieutenant. Mrs Wilgus has been in Texas for three months with her parents Mr and Mrs U S Wilgus of Columbus formerly of Carey. Avie Wilgus sister Miss Irma Wilgus of Las Vegas Nevada attended the exercises.
Knights of Columbus members are asked to meet at Our Lady of Consolation Church before Friday services at 7:45 p m to practice the Rosary for Early Victory and a Just Peace. The Ohio State Council sponsors the event and urges every member to attend.
The P R S club will meet Thursday afternoon with Mrs Nicholas Hucke northeast of Carey. Members are asked to bring contributions for the Red Cross Drive. If unable to attend, send donation with someone to avoid solicitors.
