Murder at Marion Ends in Tragedy and Suicide

Miss Dora White of Marion died after a guest, Miller Herman, entered her home during a birthday celebration and fatally shot her. He wounded Lee Patterson, then shot at the mother and finally killed himself after a failed attempt. He pleaded guilty, saying he was not sorry.

Husband Overseas Soldier Still Unheard Since August

Mrs Eugene Baughman received word her husband is alive but has not heard from him since mid August. He notified the war department, which informed C G Spencer of the draft board. A Red Cross cable was sent for delivery, but prior cables and his son’s arrival have not reached them.

The infant son of Sergt Linus Myers and his wife was christened at Our Lady of Consolation Sunday February 23 with Father Englebert officiating. Sponsors were the baby's paternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Joseph Myers. The child was given the name Ira Truman.

Mrs Robert Gregg traveled to Columbus on Tuesday to assist her granddaughter Dorcas Truckenmiller a high school teacher who fell boarding a street car and broke her ankle Dorcas is the daughter of Mrs May Truckenmiller who is described as an invalid.
