City council meeting approves bills and utility work
At the Monday night meeting the council, mayor, clerk and several councilmen approved numerous bills including police and marshal salaries, manholes cleaning, and labor on the water line. They directed a sidewalk be built on Crawford street and granted access for Knights of Pythias to connect to the cess pool and town hall water pipe. The fire chief reported a leaking roof under the fire bell and the repairs were referred to the buildings committee. The session adjourned for one week.

The will probated Tuesday leaves one acre in Carey to wife Anna A. Snyder plus lot 102 and the personal property. Each of six children receives 1000 dollars. $16000 life policy goes to wife who is executrix. Wife may employ legal counsel and retain millhands and bookkeeper until settlement. Codicil of 1913 adds 200 dollars to Maud Grover Howard and George.

Carey man repays loan after 22 years
Twenty two years after lending a friend $30 without a note, a Carey resident received a letter from the borrower in an eastern state and a check for the amount on Thursday. The lender had forgotten the debtor's residence and had long given up hope for repayment.

Amicon Sale At Storage Building Draws Crowds
A large crowd attended the Amicon sale at the storage building on Saturday afternoon. Everything sold well with six mules purchased in pairs by Ed Riester D C Childs of Findlay and Harry Tanner. The best pair sold for 315 dollars.

Carey Snyder 1856 59 Philanthropist and Builder Dies
W. H. Snyder, a prominent Carey resident and business leader, died at 3:05 PM after a long illness of liver trouble. Born June 19, 1856 near Bainbridge PA, he built a wide enterprise including a mill, coal and grain businesses, and local construction. He served as councilman and on the school board and was active in Masonic and other fraternal groups. Funeral at Lutheran church with elaborate Knights Templar and Scottish Rite rites. interment at Spring Grove cemetery.
