Missing in Action: Cpl Robert Brickner in South Pacific

Sgt Charles O Laudenslager aged 25 son of Mr and Mrs C M Laudenslager of near Vanlue suffered the loss of his right hand from wounds received in action in France. He entered the Army in 1942 and arrived in France in 1944. He arrived in the U S February 2 and is now a patient at Percy Jones General Hospital Battle Creek Michigan. He has a brother Cpl John Laudenslager stationed with the U S Army in England.

The Red Cross opens its annual campaign in Carey to raise 4406 dollars, the same as last year. Greenhouses improvise heating with surplus stoves
Surplus stoves saved a Carey Greenhouses crop after the boiler failed on Sunday February 11. Richard Frederick oversaw locating and hauling six stoves from multiple sources with help from local firms and workers. A Detroit boiler was shipped and installed by week’s end, while coal stoves burned continuously in the interim to protect growing plants and flowers.
