The Caryatid annual goes to press next week with high expectations. Students and staff organize intramural basketball, senior Kiwanian reps chosen, and the band prepared for a service men’s event. A dental clinic for grades 1 through 4 and 11 and 12 is slated Friday. The commencement date is set for May 31 and a graduation speaker is to be announced.
The deputy registrar announces the opening of an office in the trustees room at the old town hall to sell automobile and truck licenses for 1945. Hours are 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays evenings, and Thursdays afternoons. Citizens urged to obtain licenses now to avoid rush.
The social gathering at the Legion hall tonight has been postponed by the central committee due to interest in hearing the opposition's stance on universal military service. Samuel Wryer's talk on broader aspects titled How to Create a New World Order will be rescheduled. Mary Louise Bates and Geraldine Fritchie are listed among attendees.

The Junior Canteen opens for 7th and 8th graders Friday March 2 from 7 to 10 p.m. Mr and Mrs Clyde Jenking will supervise. Starting next Sunday it will open at 8 p.m. Last week chaperones included Mrs Paul Williams and Mrs Ralph Williams Wednesday and others across Friday Saturday and Sunday.
Mr and Mrs EB M Brickner of New Riegel were informed by the war department that their son Cpl Robert Brickner has been missing in the South Pacific since January 12. A former New Riegel high school athlete, he enlisted January 22 1948 and has been overseas since February 1944.
Miss Valeria Thomas daughter of Mr and Mrs Clyde Thomas of north of Carew will enter nurse’s training at St Luke’s hospital Cleveland on March 5. For the past nine months she has been employed as a nurse’s aide at Findlay hospital.
All members of Earl Green post No. 344 American Legion are requested to meet at the Legion hall on Vance street Sunday afternoon at 1 20 to attend memorial services for Ffc. Zerald W. Phillips. T A Beckwith Commander.
Sgt Charles O Laudenslager aged 25 son of Mr and Mrs C M Laudenslager of near Vanlue suffered the loss of his right hand from wounds received in action in France. He entered the Army in 1942 and arrived in France in 1944. He arrived in the U S February 2 and is now a patient at Percy Jones General Hospital Battle Creek Michigan. He has a brother Cpl John Laudenslager stationed with the U S Army in England.

C J Neff appointed deputy registrar of motor vehicles in Carey succeeding George F Shuman. He sets up in the old town hall on Vance Street with Maurice Gaster as assistant and Miss Mary Jane Brown assisting evenings during rush periods. Shuman remains in charge of sales tax stamps at McPaniel's garage.
The Dorcas Bible class of First Methodist Sunday school will meet Thursday evening March 1 at 7 30 in the home of Mrs L E Ofenbacher 272 East Sout street. Mrs J E Myers and Mrs Katie Redman will assist hostesses and a good attendance is urged.
The Philathea Ladies Bible class at Memorial Evangelical Sunday school will meet Tuesday evening March 6 with Mrs. L. L. Rowland. Mrs H A Stoll will lead the lesson study. All members urged to attend.
The Carey Schools Band Mothers' club will meet at the school auditorium on Monday evening March 5 at 8 o'clock. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.
John William Troy, a lay evangelist, will open a series at Carey Methodist Church starting Sunday March 4 and continuing through Monday March 19. Troy, a soloist and chorus director, heads the Interdenominational Association of Evangelists and conducts meetings across Indiana and Ohio.
Carey residents can hear Samuel S. Wyer of Columbus tonight at 8:14 in the school auditorium under the Service Men's Wives' club. He will discuss creating a world order, promote democratic rights, and oppose V Day while supporting international institutions and peaceful co operation. He has wide lecturing experience and has advised federal and university groups.
The J T club will meet this Thursday afternoon with Mrs William Spackey, located about a half mile northeast of Carey.
A weekly dance event is announced with Saturday night gatherings at the Eagles hall featuring round and square dancing to music by the Victory Boosters.

The Red Cross opens its annual campaign in Carey to raise 4406 dollars, the same as last year. County chairman FM Grege of Upper Sandusky appointed Mrs Ross R ORANG as Carey Precinct chairman, with captains JA Mir KHalph Williams and others directing solicitors to call at homes and businesses. Publicity is led by Herbert H Miller as publicity chairman, with the goal to finish quickly by encouraging prompt and generous contributions.
Surplus stoves saved a Carey Greenhouses crop after the boiler failed on Sunday February 11. Richard Frederick oversaw locating and hauling six stoves from multiple sources with help from local firms and workers. A Detroit boiler was shipped and installed by week’s end, while coal stoves burned continuously in the interim to protect growing plants and flowers.
The Fortnightly club meeting is postponed from Thursday to Friday evening to allow attendance at a school auditorium lecture sponsored by the Service Men's Wives' club. Mrs Cloyece Lanning will host and Mrs C C Thome will read a paper titled Ernie Pyle War Correspondent.
The white collie Major, beloved by the Ralph Haferd family, died last week at their Carey area home. He would have turned 14 in July and was buried with honors on the east hill of the Haferd lawn.
The 1944 real estate tax books are open for collection and will stay open until April 15, 1945. Karl F. Kraus, treasurer of Wyandot County, oversees the process.
