The season opening game between Upper Sandusky and Carey ended 38 to 31 in Upper Sandusky's favor. A student council dance followed the game with many local students in attendance.
In Tiffin Ohio February 20 coed students at Heidelberg College organize four dormitory girls basketball teams to fill the shortage of male players for preliminaries to the Intercollegiate games. freshman Donna Smith of Willard Hall plays for the team and is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Smith of 209 East Findlay Street Carey.
1st Lt and Mrs George Corron Jr have gone to San Marcos Texas where the lieutenant serves as an instructor in a navigation school He returned to the States last October from the Mediterranean theater after flying as navigator on an A4F Flying Fortress through 21 missions They sailed overseas in May 1944 He wears the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters Their parents Mr and Mrs George Corron live at 517 West Carey Street
The Queen Esther class of Christ Lutheran Sunday school will meet this evening February 22 at 800 o'clock in the church. The W C T U will observe Frances Willard Day at a Friday meeting on February 23 at 2:00 PM in the home of Mrs. P L Lee. Members are asked to note the change of meeting place.
On February 24 two Franciscan Friars of Our Lady of Carey Seminary will be ordained to the priesthood by Most Rev. Karl J. Alter at Holy Rosary Cathedral Toledo. Fr. Stephen G. Bon and Fr. Maurus Hatters will celebrate their First Masses the following day, Sunday February 25, at St Thomas Church Vincennes and St Benedict's Church Terre Haute respectively.
Wyandot County Farm Bureau votes to observe February 22 as M day with all county bureaus in Ohio. Poor weather delayed memberships as divisions of the bureau plan to invite farmers to join. Wyandot County now has 521 voluntary members. target for 1945 is 800 farm families.
Carey Moose lodge closed its celebration of the 30th anniversary and the dedication of the new Moose home on Sunday afternoon. Judge Arthur W. Doyle of Akron spoke to 50 candidates on "Moesehaven" as he addressed the class and a radio broadcast from WHIN Findlay aired from 2:13 to 2:34 p.m. A weekly broadcast on WFIN from the Moose hall begins March 3 between 6:16 and 6:45 p.m.

A Carey sailor aboard the destroyer Keokuk found a Carey Ohio hometown item in the shipboard paper. It recounts Captain Gentile kneeling with family at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, a vow kept since infancy rescue, and notes the paper also carried baseball scores and war dispatches from London, Washington, and New York.
Mr and Mrs Addison Rickle and Mr and Mrs Girard Rickle long time tenants on Alnuzo Ogg s farms south of Carey relocate to two farms southwest of Carey owned by C Rickle father of Addison and Girard The move follows 22 years on the Ogg farm now vacated by the Rickles and 16 years on the Org farm The Donelson Packing Co will occupy the farm they leave and other transfers swap homes among the Rickle and Wise families in a exchange tied to Ogg and Rickle properties.
Henry Faber of Berwick retired February 1 after fifty years in the employ of the Big Four and the New York Central Lines. He spent 30 years as foreman of a section gang. Aged 66 on January 6, he stays in good health and could pass for 50. He is a native of He and his wife have five sons in the armed services.
The Carey Times reports the post office notified on Monday that February 22 would have no deliveries. This disrupted the paper’s schedule and prevented advance通知 to subscribers about an earlier print date.

Pfc. John K. Barrett of Adrian Ohio is wounded in both legs by mortar shrapnel during an infantry attack outside a German village. He is at a U S Army general hospital in England and has been awarded the Purple Heart. His ward surgeon says he will likely convalesce in the United States. Barrett is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William B. Barrett of Adrian. His brother Carl Barrett serves in the Navy in the South Pacific. Separately, Pfc Samuel Risner of Alvada was wounded on Luzon January 27. Risner is married with two children Glen and a 9 month old daughter.
In the Columbus Citizen weekly magazine section a photo shows H. H. LeMott of Columbus acting as presiding officer in a parliamentary session of a public speaking class at evening high school. LeMott, Wit tenberg College graduate and E. J. Griffith & Sons office manager, notes public speaking as a hobby and cites Cary upbringing and Carey high school.
Mr and Mrs Maine Brininger sold their dry cleaning business on Findlay Street to Mr and Mrs Ray Howard who took possession Monday. The Briningers operated in Carey for 16 years and Mr Howard works for Porcelain Products Inc. They have no immediate plans.

A Sunday meet in Carey at the McDaniel garage on N Vance street saw Northwestern Ohio defeat Columbus 48 to 44. The winning team included Gene Zuber Homer Wors ey Gray Perry Fort Jennings and Claude Hile J A McDaniel. Columbus was led by Fred Stimson president of the Ohio Cheexers association.
The 1945 AAA program is ready for signatures from farmers in Crawford township. Farmers should sign up at the library on Wednesday February 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. No solicitations will be made this year and farmers must sign in with chairman Clarence Elchert.

Pvt. Wallace Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Baker of southwest of Carey, died February 2 in Belgium from wounds received in action while serving in the 326th glider infantry, 83nd airborne division. He entered the Army in 1942 and saw action from Holland to the Siegfried Line. born January 19 1909, he lived most of his life near Carey and is survived by his parents, a brother Thoburn, two sisters and four nephews.
The Carey Cooperative Food Lockers board met at the Farm Bureau Cooperative office to plan construction of a new plant. R B Breneman of Armstrong Cork Co discussed insulation and architectural options. Directors will tour planned locker plants and consider expanding capacity to meet community needs, including curing smoking and processing of fruits vegetables and meats.
The infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Albert Bentz, 440 Frederick Street, born January 25, was baptized Sunday February 11 at Our Lady of Consolation Church. Rev Elmer Mulcay O M C officiated. Godparents were Mrs Rozelle Kent field and B F Kittler.
