Monday William Russell plays Colorado Jim who seeks recreation in New York. He befriends Regie, sails to the Featherstone home, and struggles to fit the English titled set. He falls for Reggie's sister while dodging an adventuress in a farcical plot. Also Adl Wrong Clyde Cook Comedy 15c 25c.
Wednesday program features Harry Carey in Sundown Slim a story of a cheerful tramp who unites rival camps and brings joy to friends. The film shows hard riding straight shooting and daring horse feats. Also The Avenging Arrow episode 3 and Christie Comedy Babies for Three. 10c and 25c.
Community notices list family reunions to be held at Carey Water Works Park with dates from July 24 to September 1. The Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society met Friday evening at Mrs C R Tate's home. President Mrs Henry Damon led devotionals and officers were elected including president Mrs Henry Damon and vice president Mrs Cora Hart. Mrs Elza Jacobs led the Bible and Missions lesson and reported on the Akron convention. Refreshments followed. next meeting set for the third Tuesday in July on the church lawn.
Coroner Arthur Hall investigated the Alger accident that killed Lenny Dyer a 19 year old bus operator and P B Opper a 27 year old traveling salesman. The Erie passenger train struck the bus as it crossed the tracks after changing time Sunday. The view of the tracks is obscured and no other cause can be assigned.
Cletus Courtad of this city and Miss Fannie Ault of Attica were married Tuesday June 21 at 8:00 am in St Peter and Paul Church with Miss Margaret and Mr John Ault of Attica as attendants. They left for an eastern trip and will reside in Carey upon return, staying temporarily with the groom’s parents.
Samuel R. Duvall was found guilty by the Wyandot common pleas court in the clothing store robbery case. The circuit court at Lima upheld the conviction on appeal citing technical errors. Duvall is to begin a penitentiary sentence alongside Reynolds and others involved.
Findlay resident Mr. Chas W. Bell and three assistants present a program at United Evangelical Church Sunday evening July 3 at 7 30. It includes a short lecture Our Country Its Friends and Its Foes by Mr Bell a reading by Mrs Bell and quartette selections by the group. Public is cordially invited.
Among those who attended the Rebekah convention at Findlay Wednesday evening were Mrs. Will Donelson, Mrs. W. E. Montague, Miss Ilo Mee, Mrs. Verne Chesebrough, Mr. and Mrs. Laurel Lanting, Mrs. Wis i Altwater, Mrs. Frank McGown, Ralph Wagers, Mrs. Hi H. Gault and Miss Ardath Melee.
The American Legion reported a successful tag day with $69 raised last Saturday.
Pryor Irwin of Lexington Virginia spoke at the Chamber of Commerce five day institute for merchants and salespeople. He cited experiences where customers were ignored or met with vague responses and urged proactive service and advertising to attract new business. He plans further talks at Moose Hall at 8:00 PM Wednesday and Friday.
Carey hosts Mr Irwin for a talk on judicious advertising and personal service urging cooperation. He emphasizes meeting public needs, analyzing mail order methods, and visiting local stores to improve customer care while council addresses bills and a new walk project.
The Printz Beiderman group of Cleveland have signed a contract to relocate to Carey and expect to begin operations around August first. The large garment concern has 11 sites to choose from and will build a cement facility with local capital for occupancy.
The Ladies' Bible Class will lead the Sunday morning service and urges all members to attend and bring at least one visitor.
County commissioners visited the county home on Thursday. Estate matter for Alvin C England. sale bill filed and ordered recorded. Several local marriages announced including Miss Gladys Shaffer and James Lott, Elena Rogers and Ray Chester, Hazel Gilliland and Carroll Redman, Lena Davidson and Lester Secord, with Rev H E Douglas officiating. Over 500 farmers attended the Farmers' Picnic. L J Tabor spoke. Comets and wheat prices note local market. Court records cover a will dispute involving Francisco Halm. Local road bonds purchased by Hardin County Bank for Eden, Sycamore Eden, and Jackson townships. Clarence Lewis damaged his car in a ditch. one wheel broken. County name-change chatter revived by a misrouted quartet from Indiana arriving at Upper Sandusky.
Carey Tires defeated the Sherrigen Tailors of Marion 5 to 0 at the city ball diamond. Orians and Stombaugh pitched well while Buckland starred at fielding. Next Sunday Allen Base Ball Club of Bucyrus visits, and on Monday July 4 Sterrett's Cubs of Tiffin come to town. both games set for 2 30 p.m.
Two subscribers from Clyde and Hilliard Ohio express enjoyment of the Carey Times and gratitude for the paper. They say they miss receiving it more than other publications and value its local coverage.
Earl Green Post of the American Legion contracts with the Big Four to operate an excursion to Cedar Point on Thursday July 14. The train will pick up passengers as far north as Tiffin.
Last week the Findlay play grounds opened for use for the first time. A headcount showed 1,593 boys and 1,630 girls among the attendees.
