Byron Kear died on his Tymochtee farm where he was born and lived. Born January 24, 1832, he died June 20, 1900, aged 68 years 4 months 26 days. He married Eliza A Clark April 24, 1853, with three daughters living in Toledo. Baptized on the day before his death by Rev S J Taylor in the Lutheran Church. Funeral Friday the 22d at home, conducted by Rev Taylor, with Masonic lodge and Odd Fellows present. large crowd attended.
The annual Hocking Valley railroad employee picnic will be held at Minerva Park in Columbus on Saturday June 30. Leave Carey at 9 12 p m. Return trains depart Columbus at 3 05 and 8 20 p m. Round trip price 1 40 dollars.
The Open Session of Justus Lodge Knights of Pythias attracted many guests last Tuesday. Members dressed in costumes presented a Syracusan Senate scene with Pythagoras as the philosopher and a king entry, followed by a musical and literary program and a banquet.
Mrs Harriet Matilda Smith Kinney died at her Adrian area home June 1 and 8 aged 89 years two days. Born November 22 1810 in Warren County New Jersey she married A J Kinney October 18 1832. They had eleven children eight living eight grandchildren seven great grandchildren. They moved to Michigan in 1837 settling near Adrian. She belonged to the Presbyterian church. Funeral was Wednesday June 20 at the home with Rev S J Taylor of Carey Lutheran officiating. Burial was Bethel cemetery.
Mrs. Cox aged 23 years 11 months and 29 days died last Thursday at her home near the boat car factory after moving from Continental a week ago. Funeral services were held on Saturday and her remains were taken to Continental for burial.

A Dunkard church lecture drew crowds and trips to Dayton were described as pleasant. A buggy collision near Carey caused no injuries as the horse bolted before being recaptured.
