Ohio registrar Dylon W. Wallace announced the second 1941 distribution of automobile license tag revenues to cities and counties. Prize Winners Named in New Riegel Horse Pulling Contest
A large crowd attended a horse pulling contest in New Riegel sponsored by the Town Tavern. Thirteen teams from Green Springs Hamlet Deshler Bucyrus New Washington Gallon and New Riegel competed for prizes of 15 10 and 5 dollars in light and heavy classes. First in light went to Earl Harrer New Washington with 3170 pounds. second to Oak Leaf of Tiffin with 3100 pounds. third to Charles Piefer Green Springs with 3220 pounds. In the heavy class first to Piefer Green Springs with 4000 pounds. second to Jerry Nickirk New Riegel with 4020 pounds. third to Clyde Wench Gallon with 3750 pounds. Piefer beat Nickirk by 5 inches. The heaviest entry weighed 4240 pounds belonging to Harley Ryke Hamlet.

Stella Nye of Carey died March 19 1941 leaving 1000 to Christ Lutheran Church and 1000 to Oesterlin Home in Springfield. The Christ gift is to be invested for ten years with income split between benevolent church uses and local expenses, then principal for church needs.
