Plans for summer activities at Lakeland Park include baseball and softball starting June 21 on Tuesdays and Fridays at 2:30, tennis and horseshoes on Wednesdays, girls tennis Thursdays, plus supervision for ages 10 to 19. Hayden Fouts, the high school athletic director, will oversee operations.
Sr M. Winifred Sr M. Florence Sr M. Marie Geline Sr M. Carmel ita and Sr M Immaculate, instructors at Our Lady of Consolation School, left Wednesday for Tiffin for an 8 day retreat at the Franciscan Mother House. They will then go to Toledo for a 6 weeks course at Dé Sales College.
L N Zahn of Carey visits Marion to honor Fred W Hoch who completes 25 years as a representative of Ohio State Life Insurance Co. Hoch has also been in the company’s honor club for 20 years. Zahn leads a special campaign supporting Hoch.
Children’s Day services will be observed Sunday evening June 19 at Beech Grove Brethren Church at 8 o'clock. A pageant titled The World’s Tea Party will be given. Everybody welcome.
Notich notes the Women of the Moose host a card party for husbands after the regular meeting. Refreshments follow and the lodge opens at 8 o clock next Tuesday evening.

Announcement declares the December 2 1937 marriage of Mabel Crislip of Toledo to James MacKinnon of Buffalo. The couple wintered in Louisville and Lexington Ky and stayed at Mrs MacKinnon s farm north of Carey. They plan a Toledo Plaza apartment for the summer.

The Carey Eagles tentatively schedule a Sunday 2 30 PM game at Lakeland Field against the Standard Sanitary Cleaners of Tiffin weather permitting. Former Ohio State league players join the Cleaners for a fast contest with Carey battery Lefty Parsell Harve Hook Ferner Fouts catching.
The Carey school board and Superintendent-elect Earl B Driver announced Tuesday the hiring of four teachers for the coming session. The new staff includes Miss Jane Stahl near Findlay and Miss Grace Firestine of Findlay for elementary roles, Miss Ellen Rudolph of Findlay for vocational home economics, and William Holloway of Salem, a Wittenberg graduate, for instrumental music.
The Pythian Sisters will hold a regular meeting this Thursday evening. Members are reminded to attend and participate in the planned agenda.
A Findlay couple James Jgonard Reis 22 and Kathryn Isabelle 17 confessed to stealing a car in Marion Indiana and license plates in Findlay. They were captured by Corporal Clifford O Velliquette after a high speed chase in Carey. The stolen car crashed at the A C Y tracks causing hood damage. They await Indiana authorities.
Readable fragments show a school dance recital program with multiple acts. The roster includes Eddie Hans as announcer and a long list of students and teachers such as Mae Garn Jacquelyn Mapes Virginia Grove Ann Schira Nancy Hagenmaier Ardyth Byers and Jean O Connor. The Pahl family will hold a reunion at Water Works Park on Sunday June 19. Mass for deceased members is at 8:00 a.m. Wilfrid Logsdon serves as association president and Mrs L Pahl as secretary.

The Carey schools band will give a Wednesday evening concert on June 22, featuring pieces including Soaring Eagle, New Dawn, Footlifter, Night in June, Eleanor, Under the Double Pagie, Beautiful Enchantress, Andante Religioso and Queen City. The program blends marches and overtures highlighting the school’s musical lineup.
Miss Stella Windau of Clay street, blind for 20 years, composes poems and letters after learning typing with her nephew Rene from Carey high school. She can self correct errors on a standard machine and enjoys writing about summer imagery and boats under moonlit nights.
Earl B Driver head of Arlington schools received word of his mother Jane Ann Driver death at Mt Solon Virginia. He left with family for his former home to stay two to three weeks. She would have been 82 in August and had been ill the past winter. Survived by two sons five daughters and fourteen grandchildren. Father Peter Driver preceded her in 1928.
Parishes in this state region are invited to attend services at Our Lady of Consolation Shrine each Sunday. Last Sunday the group included Sacred Heart Mary Shelby St Patrick's and St Joseph's Galton and Sacred Heart Shelby Settlement. Fr Huffman of St Joseph's officiated Benediction. Next Sunday visitors will come from New Washington North Auburn St Stephen's Attila New London Plymouth and Willard.
Members of the Hancock County Camp Meeting Association and their families gathered at Byal Park Findlay last week to paint the park buildings used for annual camp meetings. Fifty people attended including children and thirty gallons of paint were used. At noon a potluck dinner was served.
The Kear Mullholand reunion is set for Sunday June 19 at Carey Park. All relatives from either family are urged to attend.
The Carey Boys 4-H club will meet in the agriculture room at the high school next Monday evening at 30 dollars.
West of town resident W Musgrave reports picking new peas and new potatoes from his garden last Sunday.
The Christ Lutheran Church in Sun City plans a brief dedication ceremony after the 10 30 a m service for its new parsonage west of the church The 10 room brick house once built in 1874 and remodeled over time will house Rev Paul R Clouser and family Open house will follow the service inviting members and friends to view the new property which adds 66 feet of frontage to the church lot The congregation organized in 1858 and will mark its 80th anniversary in November
Miss Mary Louise Mullholand and fellow members with Rev Jos eph Herp and Rev Giles Berthiaume motor to Royal Oak Michigan to visit the Shrine of the Little Flower. Charles Lanner of Detroit met them there and later they went to Walkerville Ontario as guests of Father Giles Berthiaume's parents.
The Ca rey Kiwanis club met at Pilgrim House with Rev. Marion E. Tinsler delivering the third talk in his American Seminar series. He outlined propaganda methods used on congressmen to defeat the reorganization bill and mentioned meeting the Russian ambassador to discuss Russia. Visitors GM Kurtz and L H Peck attended.
Jean Chapman Janis Wenner Paul Burson Reid Burson and Rev. Paul R. Clouser attended the 42nd annual Luther League convention of the Synod of Ohio held at the Miami Valley Chautauqua grounds near Franklin.
I thank my many friends who came from far and near to visit during my recent illness of months. I also thank all who sent gifts cards and flowers. Your kindness will long be remembered.
Graduates of the eighth grade and others not yet received will join the Young Ladies Sodality at the Mass next Sunday at Our Lady of Consolation.
Arnold is in Columbus this week attending a conference of vocational agriculture teachers at Ohio State University.
