Furnaces to Be Installed at West End School
This week work began on heating upgrades at the West End School Building. W H Snyder started installing furnaces as wooden basement partitions were removed and brick walls with a fire proof asbestos ceiling were put in. Closets and a drinking fountain will also be installed.

Hearing Set in Carey Electric Telephone vs Big Four Case

Dedication of Monument at Spring Grove Cemetery
A schedule for next Friday afternoon’s dedication of the Civil War monument at Spring Grove cemetery. The program features music by quartets, addresses by Rev. Moore and others, prayers by Chaplain Wonder, and a Benediction. If rain, events move to the hall. auxiliaries and soldiers assemble at 1 PM and transport plans set for 1 30 PM.

Break-in at Miller Variety Store Ends Theft
Burglars entered through a window at Miller Variety Store Friday night stealing cash, stamps, Mrs. V A Miller bag, Mr. Miller cuff links and small stock items. Blood traces found. suspects aimed for neighboring jewelry store and left in haste. Several cheap spoons and two bicycles discarded near rear door.

Continental Fire Destroys Village Businesses and Homes
A Saturday night blaze in Continental village Putnam county wiped out seventeen business houses and six dwellings, with total losses around 60000 dollars and about 75 percent insured. The water works, run by Frank Koontz, was unmanned as he was in Chicago for a dog bite treatment, leaving a bucket brigade as the only firefighting method.

May deaths and births reported for Findlay
During May Findlay recorded twenty deaths, nine of whom were age seventy or older and three over eighty. The youngest deceased was forty. There were thirty four births, with eighteen girls and sixteen boys.

Willis Carothers died in El Centro California on May 31. Funeral service was held at his father J H Carothers home with Rev. C D N Moore delivering the sermon. Interment followed at Bigelow cemetery with pallbearers listed and attendees from Findlay Alvada McComb Sidney Flint Michigan among others.
