Carey fire unit to return $50 check for fire truck aid

The Carey council plans to return a $50 check from Carey citizens for fire truck services at the conflagration that destroyed the Carey Mill and Elevator. This follows past cooperation with local firemen during a large fire that threatened Upper Sanctuary's business district. Carey previously requested no remuneration and councilmen approve returning the favor.

Monster egg from White Rock hen shocks town

Harley Clark of north of town brings a giant egg to the office claiming a White Rock hen laid it. The egg weighed about a half pound and measured 7 1/4 to 7 9/16 inches in circumference, roughly three times an ordinary egg and likely contained three yolks.

Death of North Baltimore man informs cousin in Findlay

On Monday evening John Slotterbeck received a call from Earl Slotterbeck of Findlay notifying that J Slotterbeck, father of Earl, had died the previous Sunday. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. J Slotterbeck was a cousin of John Slotterbeck.

Carey Falls to Arlington in Non League Tilt

Sunday at Arlington Carey and Arlington battled to a 2 2 tie until the seventh when Greer walked in a run. A pitching change and clever defense by Ridge kept Arlington ahead as Doppler errors helped two more. Greer returned and held the flat offense in check. Carey could not rally with two players sidelined. Next Sunday Curey and Sycamore meet in a league game at Sycamore.

Chemical plant to reopen under Ciroline leadership

The chemical plant will reopen Monday with J A Ciroline in charge. W A Tippie, chair of chemistry at Cleveland Technical School, is plant chemist and will assist Ciroline in management. About 18 to 20 workers will be hired to manufacture light carbonate of magnesia and more will be added as by products are processed.

The Our Lady of Consolation closing exercises included a morning communion, a pot luck dinner in Tiffin, a 6 o'clock seventh grade banquet at Pilgrim House, and 7:30pm commencement at Shrine church.
