15000 Men Sought For Army Service In Fifth Corps Area
About 1 400 of the 15 000 men required for enlistment in the US Army will come from the Fifth Corps Area, with Ohio as its hub, per Sgt Elmer G Moore of the Toledo recruiting office. The quota must be met by July 1 and assignments are offered in Cavalry engineers field artillery medical quartermaster signal corps and ordnance within the corps area. Akron worker arrested in pocketbook theft case
Attili Doganiti of Akron, an employee on the local sewer project, was arrested by Marshal Ed Weaver on a theft charge. A pocketbook bearing Denver Hart of Carey’s name was found in Doganiti's room, containing about 50 dollars, government bond coupons, and a Peoples Bank check. Police could not obtain enough evidence to hold him, and authorities pursued FBI and immigration help, but offices were closed on Saturday.

The Ohio Angus breeders sale, first of its kind in the state, will be held Monday June 10 at the state fair grounds in Columbus.
