Memorial Day services were held Thursday morning May 30 at Spring Grove cemetery in Carey. Rev Cyprian Terwoord led the dedication of a 47 field artillery memorial, with Paul Herbert of Columbus delivering the memorial address. The ceremony honored Earl Greenpost and Firing squad saluted while Taps echoed, as veterans discussed wartime loyalty and the bonus bill debate.

Aloysius Ruffing aged 47 died en route to a doctor after being shot while crossing a fence in an incident described as an attempt to kill a marauding cat. Funeral at Our Lady of Consolation Church with high requiem mass and burial in St Marys cemetery. Survived by wife Marie Pflueger Ruffing and six children with two deceased in infancy. A dynamite blast early Saturday damaged the campus home of Dr Charles E Miller president of Heidelberg College in Tiffin. Windows shattered in the house and science hall a block away. Porch fragments found nearby. A clock stopped at 4:04 am. Dr Miller his wife and daughter Gretchen were not hurt.

William Billy Ireland a longtime Columbus Dispatch cartoonist and 36 year staff member was found dead in bed May 29. Born in Chillicothe he began at the Chillicothe Daily News in 1897 and long drew the Passing Show.

Wyandot County Conservation League Outlines June Hawks War
The Wyandot County Conservation League met May 27 at the Catholic hall to plan a unified county drive against hawks and crows the first week of June. A non profit gun club runs a trap at the fairgrounds and held the first shoot the prior Thursday. The league ordered 200 rabbits for spring delivery and 300 pheasant eggs for distribution once raised. Farmers are urged to take eagle eggs from nests to raise under hens and save potential losses. The next meeting is June 24 in Upper Sandusky with a 6 reel film by South Bend Bait Co.
