Carey Boys 4-H Club Reports Largest Enrollment

The Carey Boys 4-H Club records 651 members the highest in its history under adviser Donald Derr in year three. Officers include Gaylord Derr president John Romig vice president Glen Phillips secretary and Robert Arend treasurer. Members list ages years in 4-H and chosen projects ranging from Hereford and Angus steers to dairy calves pork and crops with many entries across multiple families and projects.

Gibson Sailor to Take Part in Queen Elizabeth Revue

Ronald Reid Gibson USN personnelman aboard the USS Baltimore will participate in a naval revue for Queen Elizabeth at Spithead England in June. The Baltimore crew of 1400 will man the rail along the ships edge to cheer the royal yacht as it passes. The ship recently left the U S Sixth Fleet after duties in the Mediterranean and will act as flagship of Cruiser Division 4 visiting ports in France Italy Spain Sicily Sardinia and other eastern Mediterranean locations.

Cancer Fund Half of Wyandot County Quota Reached

Wyandot County Cancer Society reports 1953 drive totals at just over 1600 dollars, half of the 3300 dollar goal. Drive chairman Paul D Enders announces extension of a couple of weeks for new gifts and lists sending options to John DeBolt or Enders. May 26 meeting at the courthouse included township and community chairmen.

Rebekah Inspection Set for Tuesday Night

Goodwill Truck Coming to Carey for Donations

Village Council OKs two resolutions and sewer study plans

The Village Council approved two resolutions granting Northern Ohio Telephone Co. use of village land for a driveway and authority to lay underground cables. A second reading was given to Ordinance No. 439 making cemetery endowments compulsory. Officials discuss sewer surveys, stream pollution permit deadline, and street improvements including graveling Woodland Avenue.

Reverend John A Root to Attend Lutheran Conference at Gettysburg

The Rev. John A Root will attend the Eastern Regional conference of the Board of Parish Education of the United Lutheran Church in America at Gettysburg College and Seminary on June 9 and 10. Attending from the Synod of Ohio include the Rev. Alfred Updegraf, Rev. Richard Powell, Rev. Edward Dinkel, Rev. Wray Smith, and Rev. Donald Alber. The group plans to travel by auto, leaving Monday and returning Thursday, as Root, chair of Christian Education and Youth Work, will report on activities for 1952 and 1953.

Shuffleboard Club Opens Season at Carey Memorial Park

The Carey Shuffleboard Club opened the 1953 season with a 6 30 pm picnic at Carey Memorial Park. About 35 attended. Champions of the tournament were Charles Inbody and Mrs Robert Smith. Consolation winners were Clinton Kear and Henry Pieracini. Tournaments slated for Tuesday and Friday evenings weekly until Labor Day.

North Miami High School Ninth Grade Graduation Portrays Class

Lee Brashares grandson of Mrs Nora Brashares was among four of four in a 450 pupil ninth grade cohort at North Miami High School to graduate Tuesday. The class spent a day at a local park with boating on the canal and horseback riding. North Miami High School enrolls about 1800 pupils.

Kiwanians Take Boys to Indians Senators Ballgame

Carey Kiwanis club sponsors an annual trip for boys from 6th to 12th grade to the Cleveland Indians versus Washington Senators game in Cleveland on Thursday June 11. Carey To Host Kelley-Morris Circus On June 30

The Kelley-Morris circus, wintering in DeLand Florida, will perform in Carey Memorial Park on Tuesday June 30 with matinee and evening shows. Sponsored by the Carey Businessmen Association, the group takes 50 percent of pre June 30 tickets and 10 percent of park tickets to fund park improvements. Tickets cost 120 for adults and 60 cents for children.
