Frey Gardner to Gardner Prey Wedding at Methodist Parsonage

Last Thursday morning at 10 o clock the marriage of Miss Mildred Gardner and Henry Prey took place at the Methodist parsonage. Rev. W F Martin officiated. The couple planned a honeymoon trip to Athens with George Gardner Jr. as host at Ohio University. On return they will set up housekeeping on a farm near Tiffin in a furnished home.

United Brethren Church Announces Weekend Programs

The United Brethren church will host a Children's Day program Sunday at 7 30 PM. Regular Wednesday prayer meeting is set for 7 30 PM and the teachers study class will meet Saturday evening at 7.

AG Boy's Visit Experiment Highlights Vocational Day

A delegation from the agriculture class led by F H Brown and others visited the Ohio Experiment Station in Wooster for the first Vocational Field Day for high school boys. More than a thousand attendees observed soil, forage, orchards, vegetable plots, poultry and livestock tests, with a focus on minerals and soil fertility. Blair Wentling stood out in athletic contests, and several Carey students joined the trip, admired the station’s hill country scenery and urged future visits on Live Stock Day and Wheatfield Day.

Wittenberg College to Hold 75th Commencement

Virgil Yohe of Carey will graduate with the senior class at Wittenberg College Springfield on June 11. President Rees Edgar Tulloss will award bachelor of arts diplomas as Charles L. Knight, former congressman and publisher of The Beacon Journal, speaks. The event caps a five day program on the central campus.

Train wreck halts traffic. engine lifted by Big Four

The Big Four wreck train arrived Monday afternoon to lift a large freight engine back onto the track after a truck crawled a switch frog near the hotel. Traffic was detoured over a sidetrack. S. F. Richardson has secured Richards' Orchestra for Meadowbrook park dances at Camp Crawford Friday nights.

Becoming Dangerous at West Findlay Street Crossing

Increased traffic on the A C & Y line makes the West Findlay Street crossing perilous. A Detroit truck trailer was struck on a recent Wednesday. Thursday noon Joe and Wallace Dible narrowly escaped death when a train, late that day, approached as they crossed. Wallace swerved the car, overturned it, and avoided the train. no injuries occurred.

Oak Grove Church Services Led by Visiting Clergy

Rev E P Yoder of West Liberty preached at Oak Grove Sunday morning. Rev Wieand of Bellefontaine led both services there. Mrs Wieand and children Ralph Wilson and Dorcas joined the Bellefontaine trip. Next Sunday Oak Grove officials will lead services. Wilson and Dorcas will attend the Church of the Brethren conference at Winona Lake with others including Mr and Mrs M H Thomas and daughter Helen.

Mrs. Clara Cram Dies at 87 in Davenport

Mrs. Clara D. Cram aged 87 died at her Davenport Iowa home after a quiet illness. She formerly lived in Columbus and Carey and visited son C. E. Cram in Marion. Survivors include sons C. F. Cram and Ralph W. Cram, two grandsons and five other grandchildren. Funeral attendees included Ramon Cram and Maynard Cram.

Methodist Church Announces Week Schedule and Sermon Series

Tonight a county Brotherhood meeting is held at Little Sandusky with many men attending. Sunday services proceed as usual with Sunday school at 9 14 and Divine worship at 10 30 when the pastor preaches The Prayer of Jabez in the morning. Epworth League meets at 7 p m and evening services at 8 p m feature the third sermon in the History of the Christian Church series The Rise of the Roman Church.

Free showing of USDA film on bovine tuberculosis at Carey High

A free four reel film titled Clean Herds and Clean Hearts on bovine tuberculosis and control methods will be shown at the Carey High School Auditorium Friday evening at 30 p m eastern time. Everyone is invited to attend this educational event aimed at both town and country residents.

House Burns in Crawford Burkites Home Fire

A Crawford residence owned by Chet Burke burned last Thursday while Burke was away. Origin unknown but suspected overheated stove. The 100 year old house sustained the loss. Burke held $800 in insurance and plans to rebuild.

Married at New Riegel Coppler Stark Tie The Knot

They honeymoon to Canada and Michigan then visit Carey before settling in Toledo where Mr Coppler works at the Chevrolet factory.

Carey Wins Again Over Tiffin in Narrow Baseball Victory

Carey defeated Tiffin 4 to 1 as Pahl held Tiffin to one run through four innings before J Orlans blanked the visitors for the rest of the game. Carey’s timely hits and solid defense backed manager Joe Silverstein’s squad which remains undefeated this year. Next Sunday Nevada visits for another expected clean game.

Funeral held for Mrs Mary Bo Weaver at Crestline

Attendees included Mrs W B Hoff and daughters Trene and Romaine, Mrs T M Remlinger, Mrs JF J Simonis, Mrs Jack Walters, Mrs Preston Gaster and son Maurice, and Gilbert Brown. Burial followed at Shelby settlement between Shelby and Crees line. Mrs Weaver, born near Crestline, died Friday at age 84 while living with her son Charles in Crestline. Three sons and two daughters survive.
