Lions Club Plans Junior Trip to Cleveland Ballgame

The Carey Lions propose a June 30 trip for 130 boys from 7th to 12th grade to see Detroit and the Cleveland Indians play. About 25 to 30 cars will caravan from Carey at 8:00 a.m. to arrive around 11:30 a.m. Carey time. Volunteers to drive are urged to contact Harry Myers Don Fetters or Cloyce Wentling.

Creeger's Band Skips March for Memorial Day

The Creeger band led by William Frank Creeger did not march this Memorial Day due to his high blood pressure. He still directed selections at Monument Square and the group performed for memorial services at Sycamore. The band, once Bascom band, is among the oldest in the region and now includes more Tiffin area musicians. Creeger’s son Robert Creeger, Creeger Implement Co owner, played with the band over the weekend.

Robert H. Mapes son of Mr and Mrs Harry Mapes graduates from the College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University Ada with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Dr Wilbur W White Toledo University president spoke at the Sunday commencement. He plans to remain in Ada until June 20 for Ohio State Board exams then move to Cleveland June 27 to begin a Marshall Drug Co position.

Carey Boy in Mediterranean Area Returns to Carrier Cruise

Robert D. Fox an airman apprentice in the US Navy son of Mrs J B Fox of Carey Ohio arrived in the Mediterranean aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea for a six month cruise. He reached the Rock of Gibraltar on May 14 for a three day visit before transiting to Augusta Sicily for fleet exercises and port calls aimed at maintaining fighting efficiency.

Hartman Toastmaster At Millcreek Alumnae Banquet

Scheck's installs self service meat cases

Scheck's Super Market installed two 12 foot Tyler self service meat cases now in operation. Fresh and cold meats are wrapped in cellophane with labeled weight and price. Meat is cut weighed and wrapped in house. meats can be cut to order. Isidore Collet leads the department. A new 20 by 31 foot room for poultry cream and egg buying was added with Don Myers in charge and multiple Carey routes for sourcing.

Mrs George Orlans Recovering After Fall in Berlin Heights

Mrs George Orlans of route 1 Berlin Heights is recovering from serious injuries after falling on the stairway Friday May 13.
