Stief Bros and Clark threshed 25 acres on the Stief farm northeast of town. The wheat averaged 40 bushels per acre and the yield was of very fine quality. Pioneer Picnic Thursday Aug 7.
The Pioneer Picnic, delayed by rain, will be held next Thursday in Stoll's grove east of Crawford near the site of Col. William Crawford's 1782 death. A P. Sandies will speak and the Fosterid Ladies Band will perform as residents bring dinners and enjoy a community sing. Parking is plentiful.
The Ladies Harmony Quartet from Bethany School Chicago will perform at Oak Grove Church of the Brethren northwest of Carey on Thursday August 7 at 745 PM. Warren M Heestand will accompany as reader. The group tours Pennsylvania and Ohio since June. Repertoire includes The Life of Paul. Admission is free with a basket offering invited.

The Kiwanis Club held its regular Monday luncheon with vice president I S Burson presiding. J D Ewing said the swimming pool project is still advancing though not all areas have been canvassed. Dr W N Johnson was appointed temporary chairman during the president's and vice president's absence. Three Kenton Kiwanis members attended and invited local members and their wives to a sectional meeting.
Carey visits Arlington for a fast snappy game expected to add another scalp to its season. Game time is 3 p m eastern.
Two year old Frank Sammet, son of Mr and Mrs Paul Sammet of south town, fell from a wagon Monday evening and broke his left leg below the hip. He also suffered a deep cut at the back of his head. Dr Siddall was called and set the fracture.
The Evangelical church will host its fourth quarterly conference Saturday evening at eight. The quarterly communion service follows Sunday evening at seven thirty. Rev. R. A. Sain of Columbus will deliver the sermon.

Sheridan Doolittle died at his Clay Street home on Sunday after a prolonged illness. He was 57, married to Amanda Peiffer since 1910, and survived by several siblings. Funeral services were held from his home with Rev IL Po Speaker officiating and interment at Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay.
