In Bucyrus the Lincoln Highway Association placed a large sign at the west edge listing Upper Sandusky as 17 miles away. Nevada residents protested to have their town named on the sign next, arguing travelers seek Nevada first. Deputations met, promises of compromise loom as counties weigh cross town pride. Carey’s detour from the route adds neighborly interest.
A family of owls, including two young, has appeared in the west end this summer. The youngsters, just able to leave the nest near the Straw residences, perch during the day on the street and have begun visiting neighboring homes.

At Monday night’s city council meeting, officials ordered a vigorous campaign against noxious weeds and prepared Findlay street improvement bonds. Bids ranged from 2 to 127 dollars in premiums and accrued interest, with Sycamore State Bank of Sycamore the chosen bidder at 12 621 for 12 500 in bonds and the mayor and clerk authorized to sign.
