The Carey Farmers Community Club met Monday evening at the Moose club rooms with an excellent music program by the Limestone Trio Vitalis La vern Wisner and Sherman Rangeler from northwest of town. Refreshments were provided by Harry P. Bardon Charles Fox and Henry Fleck of Upper Sandusky. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday evening August 29.

Lightning Kills Horses and Hogs in Rural Strike
Last Thursday at about 5 30 p m a bolt of lightning killed a horse and two hogs owned by William Myers 20 miles north of town as they fed near a barn The horse damaged by a prior shock dropped dead after the strike Two hogs nearby were killed and other hogs were shocked Sylvester Myers 14 felt the shock A second horse on the Keller farm four miles west of town also died The Heck home three miles west of Carey was struck with siding knocked off and plaster loosened The Proctor elm in Crawford lost splinters up to five feet long.

Carey school finances dip amid national downturn with a 1933 running expenses budget of 47 575 a reduction of 3 000 from 1982 and 10 215 from 1931. Property valuation falls to 5 787 600 a shrinkage of over 2 000 000 from 7 488 000. Bond and interest fund for 1933 set at 21 631 down from 21 986 in 1982. State classification distribution to total 9 600 with 7 200 to board of education and rest to library fund. Non tax revenue expected 2 500 from various sources.

Petition for Carey Plymout h state route filed
petitions from Richland county residents along a proposed 40 mile Carey to Plymouth state route were sent from Lima to Columbus with about 250 signers. Officials will study this and other route extensions when the 1933 construction program is set. Survey work on the Ranger road from Carew began Monday.

Bandits Hold Up Filling Station Near McCutchenville
A man and a woman in a dark blue Nash robbed a filling station on N Vance street. They fled after stealing $40 from the register and disrupted pursuit, abandoning the car after a tire blew. Authorities, including Marshal O Connor and Sheriff Weatherholtz, searched fields and woods near McCutchenville and Basil farm. The Nash was later traced to Medina thefts. The pair, about 25, were seen in a white then orange dress.

Death of W N Michaels at 80 in Sycamore
W N Michaels aged 80 died at his Sycamore home after a brief illness from a cerebral hemorrhage. Survived by wife Adda Hull, he had lived in Carey earlier and owned a Sycamore grocery. Funeral 1:30 Friday at Sycamore Methodist Church with Rev T MacWilliams and Carey Odd Fellows directing. Interment Spring Grove Cemetery. casket to be opened at the grave.

A rubber plant moving from Chelsea to Chelsea Michigan will be installed at The Snyder Lumber Co plant in a cement block building. E L McKimm of Toledo and A R Brandt of Chicago supervise the setup. Operations expected in three weeks with 12 to 15 workers under a profit sharing plan producing rubber sponges and other rubber specialties for department and chain stores.
