Death of Vanlue contractor Elhannan Swihart at 71

Elhannan Swihart 71 a Vanlue contractor died Friday morning after a year long liver cancer illness. Funeral held Sunday at the Lutheran church in Vanlue with Rev. Paul R. Clouser officiating. Burial in Van Horn Cemetery. Survived by wife Allie Treece and children Ruby Criger Christina Hendricks Mary Elizabeth Woodward Hulda Crow Amos Swihart Ethel Long Nora Eschbach. Swihart member of Lutheran church. Attending relatives from Carey included H. L. Wenner C. F. Pflueger Elza Jacobs Dallas Putnam and others.

Lovell Giants Fall to Forest 5 2 on Unearned Runs

Keckler pitched for Lovell Sunday allowing Forest four hits and 17 strikeouts. Errors by Lovell led to all unearned Forest runs due to lack of practice. Next Sunday July 24 Lovell hosts the Americans of Piffin at 2 30 pm with a double header opener at 1 00 pm.

The Jolly Ten club met Thursday afternoon at Mrs. E. T. Criger's home. After a business session, Iris Rangeler led recreation with games including I'm Going to New York and Automobile. The next meeting is scheduled for July 28.

The annual festival for the benefit of St Josephs church in Salem will be held Tuesday evening July 26 on the church grounds. A chicken supper and many attractions are planned with a rain date of Wednesday night. The public is invited.

Pastor Receives Unanimous Invitation to Return

At the fourth quarterly conference the Carey charge congregation unanimously invited Pastor Rev. Charles W. Sultzbach to return for the coming year. District Superintendent Dr. W. J. Dunham of Toledo was asked to authorize his return and also to continue as district superintendent.

Mrs C M Heck Dies in Seattle at 75

Mrs. C M Heck youngest sister of S A Chesebrough of W Findlay street died in Seattle Washington Tuesday of last week after a four month illness from a stroke. Aged 75 she lived in Seattle with her two daughters Mrs Ernest Taylor and Mrs Ray Starrett. She leaves a granddaughter Charlotte Mae Taylor and nieces Mrs E C Harshberger and Mrs W Bish. Funeral and burial were held in Seattle Thursday afternoon.

Break fast helps seven train riders in Ohio incident

Marshal O Connor served breakfast Friday morning to seven prisoners taken from a C O train earlier. A northbound freight car was broken into a watermelon load and about 40 passengers rode the rear. Carey railroad detectives arrested seven riders, others fled at Marion. no charges to be filed, suspects released.

Norma Lee Caldwell died at home in Wharton Sunday night at 10 45 o clock aged 9 months and 14 days. Big Parade Driveaway From Hudson Plant To Pass Carey

Rev and Mrs C W Sultzbach learn their children Paul Miss Mary Emma Robert and Richard are at home after a three week westward motor tour from Eureka California to San Francisco Yellow Stone Park Salt Lake City and Seattle.
