Carey Seminary to be Dedicated by Bishop Alter

On Sunday July 26 1935 His Excellency the Most Rev Karl J Alter D D of Toledo will dedicate the Our Lady of Carey seminary built by the Franciscan Friars Minor Conventual. The 40 student 8 professor building on West Street will open in September with a 3 PM ceremony.

Wyandot County Excursion Train To Cleveland For Wyandot Day

Wyandot county residents take an excursion train to Cleveland on Wednesday August 5 for Wyandot Day at the Great Lakes Exposition. Depart Carey at 7:00 a.m. with Harpster 6:00 a.m. and Upper Sandusky 6:30 a.m. Arrival in Cleveland 10:00 a.m. return by 10:00 p.m. Round trip $2.10 adults $1.05 children. Souvenir ticket 50 cents includes Streets of the World and exposition access.

Sisters' Chapel Under Construction At Our Lady Of Consolation

A Sisters' Chapel 15 by 15 feet is under construction as an addition to the rectory of Our Lady of Consolation. Snyder Lumber Co. holds the contract. Exterior walls use rough wire cut tapestry brick to blend with surrounding buildings.

Destructive Farm Fire Wipes Out Keiffer Holdings

A early Friday fire at the J T Keiffer farm three miles west of Carey destroyed a barn sheds and granary. Loss valued at 34500. 50 tons hay 12 hogs 3 cattle and machinery burned. Mrs J H Smith of Tiffin owns the farm. buildings insured by Seneca Mutual and Wyandot Mutual contents only partially covered.

Lawn fete at Pythian Hall to raise funds

The Pythian Sisters announce a lawn fete on the lawn at the Pythian hall corner of Patterson and South streets Friday and Saturday evenings July 24 and 25. Refreshments and penny bean toss and other games are offered with items priced at five cents or less. If rain the event moves indoors.

Don Donelson's Semi-pros, recently reorganized, opened their season with a 38 to 4 victory over Forest Sunday afternoon. C Keckler pitched shutout innings, L Keckler led batting with two doubles and a single, and Carey totaled 11 hits with one error. A return game is set for Forest next Sunday as Forest seeks revenge.

Injured With Binder Near Carey

Mrs Bert Smith of four miles north of Carey was injured Friday when the binder lines fell. She stepped down to fix them, stumbled, and was run over by a wheel but avoided more serious injury. She suffered cuts needing two clamps and injuries to the face neck and shoulder.

Carnival Wants to Return to Carey During August Pilgrimage

The S R Edwards carnival tours continue with shows in Fostoria this week after appearances in Carey and Upper Sandusky. It is reported the carnival would like to return to Carey during the August pilgrimage, though such a plan may not be desirable or fitting.

Scouts Save Woods Fire Near Crawford From Burns

Herman Rhu of Marion Edmond M Hesser of Newport Ky and Bruce Knoblock of Carey Haggle Scouts spent a weekend at Bruce Knoblock’s home. They found a fire in the H L Pahl woods at Crawford and fought it with green branches since no water was available. About 3800 feet burned. two hours of hard work ended the blaze.

Carey Variety Installs Largest Gas Unit Heater

A new gas unit heater, the largest in Carey, was installed in the Carey Variety store by Ohio Fuel Gas Co. The heater heats the room in winter and, with its built in electric fan, circulates air in summer. Other Carey firms with this unit include Joe Schira's restaurant McArthur's grocery and Donelson's restaurant.
