The 1925 Caryatid highlights a graduating girl noted for scholastic success and a theatre part in Seventeen by Booth Tarkington. She played Mrs Baxter in a March 17 1925 benefit play. Xavier Arnold played Mr Baxter. She later married a Carey Western Union employee, moved to California in 1934, and after his 1937 death raised two children in Carey while working at Porcelain Products for 21 years.

Golfer Nets Two Hole-In-One Rounds on 9 Holes

Driver Recovers From Weekend Crash Near McCutchenville
Phillip L. Ogg 26 of Upper Sandusky formerly of Carey received minor injuries when his 1957 Ford left the road, rolled over, and struck a telephone pole about a mile south of McCutchenville. He was treated at Wyandot Memorial Hospital for an arm injury and contusions. The car was ruled a total loss.

Death of Leo Brodman Sr. at Wyandot County home
Leo Conrad Brodman Sr. died at 8 30 a m July 21 at his Carey area home after long illness of cancer. A retired farmer born January 28 1889 in Salem township he lived in Wyandot County his whole life. He married Frances Haubert in 1912. she died in 1952. Surviving are ten children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation with burial in St Mary’s Cemetery. K of C rosary tonight and parish rosary Friday. Burial arrangements by Bristoll Funeral Home.

Camp St Marys Camp Enters Third Session Of Summer Program
The EUB Church Camp at St. Marys begins its third session with Carol Smith and Levan Clay as counselors, Mrs Elbert Tewell as crafts co ordinator, and Nancy Staltz among the campers. Highlights include a lecture by Lucy Le Fevre from Sierra Leone, while afternoons feature Bible quizzes crafts swimming and other recreation. Evening activities encompass a mixer films and vespers. Two cottages were removed and a new sewage system installed, the upper dining hall area renovated for the third group. Mrs Tewell marks her 11th year with the camp.

Grass fires put out by Carey volunteers
Nineteen Carey volunteer firefighters reported to a woods and grass fire on Elm Hill Road at 6.24 pm Tuesday. The blaze was extinguished with little damage to woods owned by Charles Ruffin. Minor damages occurred from two prior grass fires last Tuesday at 11:30 am on N Patterson Street by the New York Central tracks and at 6:20 pm near the C and O railroad crossing on Elm Hill Road.
