Realtors oppose property tax under Ohio House bill 913

After an emergency meeting in Columbus on Friday July 14 Bucyrus Area Board of Realtors president H L Wenner warned that proposed Ohio House bill 913 would add a 1 percent sales tax on real estate. The measure would raise upfront costs for buyers and erode home equity further, possibly delaying ownership as Ohio relies heavily on property tax for public revenue. Wenner cited 1965 figures and noted veterans buying a $15 500 home could face $925 to $1550 extra down payment. A campaign by board members to alert buyers was planned.
