Dedication at Carey Park Pool Highlights Local Effort

The Carey pool dedication featured Judge Kear, George Snyder of Kiwanis, and city leaders praising the park and shelter house. Raymond Platt led swimming honors, and Ohio State divers Johnny Simpson and Les Henderson performed. A 379-person turnout enjoyed a full day of games, fireworks, and public swims.

Park Receives Horseshoe Court Donation from Dr Bame

A horseshoe court was built behind the filtration plant with a regulation set donated by Dr Bame. The park office keeps the equipment for sign out and use, and officials thank him for the helpful addition after 65 weeks of discussion.

Summer Activities Planned for Children Includes Pool Events

A parent's meeting on July 7 outlined planned activities for children this summer. Highlights include a water carnival and pageant, day camp, Mother and Daughter Swim Night, Father and Son Swim Night, track meet, swimming dance, special pool stunt nights, diving meet, Labor Day celebration, crafts, life saving classes, gymnastics, and athletic instruction.

Boy Scouts Return From Valley Forge Jamboree

Danny Dible of Wyandot County is among Carey Boy Scouts returning home from the National Boy Scout Jamboree at Valley Forge Pa. The event featured talks to 40 634 Scouts by President Truman and General Eisenhower a Washington play and visits to Independence Hall Betsy Ross grave and Christ Church The trip included a $5 000 fireworks display and stops in Baltimore and Washington D C Danny was the only Carey Scout at the jamboree and his parents met him at Marion.

Hampshire Red pullets killed near Carey prompt dog owner reminder

Sixty Hampshire Red pullets owned by Mr and Mrs Henry Lortz south of Carey were killed at 5 am Saturday. Two dogs from nearby farms were found at the scene and Dog Warden Jack Stalter says they will be destroyed. Pullets valued about $90. Stalter urges dog owners who bought dogs recently from out of state or those with dogs due to reach three months old after July 1 to buy licenses at half price.

Patricia Laird Visits Switzerland on European Assignment

Miss Patricia L Laird, who flew to Europe April 17 and works in the Security Branch at European Command Headquarters in Frankfurt, has been appointed secretary to the Security Board in Stuttgart. She toured Germany and recently visited Switzerland. she is the daughter of Mr and Mrs C G Laird of Patterson Street.

Wheat crop rate announced for Wyandot county 1950

The 1950 basic loan rate is $2.11 per bushel for Wyandot county wheat. Last year it was $2.07. The rate applies to U S No 1 grade. Wheat from farms in the 1950 allotment program graded No 3 or better or No 4 or No 6 due to test weight or durum varieties will be eligible for CCC loan or purchase. Rates for other grades will be announced later.

Kromer Injured In Cherry Picking Fall At Home

Kromer fractured a vertebra last Thursday while picking cherries at Dean McGill's home. A ladder limb broke, tossing him about 16 feet. He was taken to Findlay hospital Sunday for X rays showing a crushed vertebra and will be cast and kept for several days.
