Carey School Board Adopts 1958 59 Budget and Coaching Changes
The Carey exempted village school district board approved a 1958 59 budget of 295698 dollars for the year from January 1, 1958 to January 1, 1959. It allocates 266198 for operation and 29500 for bond retirement. Carl E. Cupp is named head football coach succeeding John Donaldson. Vernon E. Hull hired as high school teacher and assistant coach. Major Harold Krout commands the 15th Troop Carrier Squadron stationed at Rhein Main Germany. Two C 124s ferried 22 jeeps with 10 mm recoilless rifles to aid Lebanon under the Eisenhower Doctrine. The group flew via Chateauroux Athens Beirut arriving June 8 greeted by US and Lebanese officials. Krout, a Carey High School 1939 graduate, previously served in World War II earning multiple medals.

Harry B.
