Methodist Church Opens Bible Story Library for Children
A circulating library of Bible story books was started in the cradle roll and primary departments of the Methodist church on July 1 to provide better religious reading for children aged 3 to 9. Books include Old and New Testament stories, with 10 and 50 cent editions from Educational Comics Inc., and plans to expand as funds allow. donations and book donations welcome, with donor names to be recorded in bookplates.

Carey Receives 525 Tag Money From Auto Funds
The second 1945 auto tag distribution totals 5,105,952 to towns and counties. Wyandot County gets 8,883 and district shares 2,410. Harpster Kirby Marseilles Nevada Sycamore Upper Sandusky Wharton receive smaller amounts. The Wyandot total is 13,608. This follows the first May distribution, bringing county and town road funds to 14,271,426 for maintenance of streets and roads.

Franklin Hosterman Dies in Germany
Mrs. Franklin Hosterman of Sycamore received word from the War Department that Pfc. Franklin Hosterman, 28, died in Germany on June 22. He served with the 744th Railway Operations Battalion and had been overseas a year, with his last letter dated June 17. He was born in Sycamore, a 1940 Sycamore High School graduate, and left a wife, a son Robert Dwight, and his parents Dwight and Hdna Hosterman. He attended Sycamore Methodist church and his maternal grandmother is Mrs. Mary Stroup.

Frias Soldier Improves After Austrian Wound
Mrs. Eddy Frias of S Muncie Street reports husband Pfc. Frias is improving from an accidental wound received in Austria on May 18. He was treated in a French hospital after pneumonia followed. He was released from the critical ward on June 17 and is with the 42nd Division of the 2nd Army.

High Wind Knocks Out Power Lines in Carey
A strong afternoon wind Friday knock down two high tension wires between Snyder Lumber Co plant and the substation. The lines crossed above the C and O tracks and carried 2400 volts each. Carey power was cut off and a repair crew led by superintendent W J Lefferson worked until 11 PM.

Carey Soldier Receives Bronze Star for European Service
Cpl. Louis H. Brodman of Carey Ohio, with the 7th Armored Division in Europe, earned the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service from August 11 1944 to April 6 1945 in France Belgium Holland and Germany. His citation praises his tank gunner fire that repeatedly knocked out German vehicles and opened the path for American advances.
