Plans for Summer Physical Program For High School Boys

The summer fitness program for high school boys in grades 9 to 12, to be held at the city park on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m., announces Coach Geschwind. Activities include calisthenics weight training running speed ball and more. All interested boys may attend.

Boys and Girls State Programs Promoted by Carey Legion

The Carey American Legion and its auxiliary along with the Kiwanis Club Jaycees and Jaycee-Ettes promote Boys State and Girls State. Local youths Carol Fabiani Nondus Oriani Charles Hall Steven Pieracini and Joseph Jacoby attended camps learned state government and held mock conventions. A 100 mile Ohio River cruise by Richard and Scott Spayd and Paul and David Burson from Carey highlighted local youth activities.

Carey Police Reports Four Minor Accidents This Week

Police investigated four noninjury accidents with minimal damage. A 1956 Ford driven by Paul H. Treece collided with a 1962 Rambler driven by Mrs. John L. Mason after a sudden turn into a Foodland lot. James W. Howard, on a Harley Davidson, was cited for reckless operation after rear ending a 1959 Rambler driven by Mrs. Maurine Nash. A 1962 Chevrolet convertible owned by Georgia McDaniel was damaged when a 1964 Ford truck struck it leaving a parking lot. A 1958 Chevrolet sedan jumped the curb while Rose Hotelling attempted to angle park on South Street. Officers Doppler, Orians and Knowlton investigated.

Peoples Bank Installs Post Tronic Machine

The Peoples Bank of Carey unveiled a Post Tronic electronic bookkeeping system from National Cash Register to speed service and improve accuracy. It automates eight functions, ensures correct account card selection, and prints monthly statements with magnetic memory stripes for identity verification. A Brandt electric coin sorter is also installed for rapid coin sorting and depositing. Organizations and individuals are invited to use the new equipment.

Complaints From Carey West End Over Street Racing

Residents on the west edge of Carey voiced safety concerns over youths racing on W Findlay Street and State Road 15. Police Chief Vincent Jacob urged reporting license numbers to arrest offenders. repeated sightings described late model cars zigzagging and speeding through a residential area.

Shuffleboard Tournament Crowns Donelson Team in Tuesday Play

Thirteen teams competed with Denver Donelson and Harold Donelson taking first place by defeating Lee Yentzer and Reed Steen. Lee Callahan and Carl Kimmel finished second after beating Gladys Yentzer and Lloyd Long, with refreshments served by the June committee.

Carey- Youths Apprehended After 90 MPH Chase

Two 14 year old youths from Flat Rock Michigan were spotted driving a stolen car with one headlight out near Carey. Officer Jack Orians pursued the auto at 90 MPH to Upper Sandusky where a road block was set. The youths fled into a private yard, abandoned the car, and were later found by deputies. They are held for Michigan authorities.

Wyandot County Auditor Edward Beard told the Carey Kiwanis the county will start a professional reappraisal in the next 10 to 16 days, beginning in the east and moving west. He cited 1963 tax figures, 38 percent valuation for taxation, and details on real estate, public utilities, and personal property valuations and changes under House Bill 128.
