Janet Ladd, 18, Route 2 Carey, died after a sudden stroke at 1 15 a.m. Sunday June 27 1965 in Shelby Community Hospital Michigan while on vacation with her husband Ted Ladd. She was born September 19 1946 in Carey and was a 1964 Carey High School graduate active in 4 H and school activities. Burial at St Paul Evangelical United Church Vanlue.
Nancy E Saltzman of route 1 Alvada has been awarded a Bowling Green State University scholarship. President William T Jerome III notes the honor carries extra meaning at Bowing Green for top high school graduates. Miss Saltzman recently graduated from Vanlue High School.
Customers at the Jack Rall Restaurant are astonished by a large 82 inch Texas Longhorn horn display mounted on the west wall. The gift arrived last Friday from Major and Mrs. Richard Davis of Big Spring Texas, the proprietor’s daughter and son-in-law.
Carey Memorial Park launches the annual homecoming next Wednesday with Dine Amusements rides and midway games. Family night tickets cost 1 for 8 rides, available at the park from Earl Green Post No 244. Food stands open daily from 4 30 p.m. through Saturday as the Legion Auxiliary plans home cooked fare. Thursday features the 1965 Homecoming Queen Barbara O Flaherty with floats to be judged in front of Christ Lutheran Church and cash awards for entries. entrants must pre list with the legion.
Alfred Haga, Band Director, will meet in the band room Tuesday July 6 to start the summer program. Senior Band rehearsals run 6 30 to 8 30 PM. New members listed. Graduates to have uniforms cleaned. Younger students to contact for lesson times and junior band rehearsals.

An accident occurred Monday around 4 pm on Patterson Street involving Paul A. Koepfer of Alvada and Melvin Hotelling of Carey. Koepfer’s 1965 Chevrolet struck Hotelling’s 1961 Ford, causing $100 damage to the Chevy and $75 to the Ford. no arrests were made.
The National Labor Relations Board ruled Millington Mgs Corp of Upper Sandusky engaged in unfair labor practices by discouraging union membership. The board found the discharge of Larry Te and the involvement of Larry Coe linked to organizing activity and ordered reinstatement and a posting pledge against employer interference.
On June 22 Donelson's fell 5-4 to Scotch as Bill Barth opened scoring with the first run. Jim Greer hit a third inning homer, Tom Snowberger added a fourth inning shot, and Rodney Traxler homered in the sixth to seal the 5-4 setback. Donelson's then beat Carey Legion 8-2 behind Snowberger and Greer.
The Wyandot County Council for Retarded Children met in Upper Sandusky on June 22 with all officers and director Mr Greer present. The treasurer received a check from the Bible School at Sycamore and Carey Jaycees. funds go to the building fund with $500 required before a Time Certificate. A report on operating school costs and the auditors balance was given. a July 29 meeting at 2 p.m. was set for parents, teachers, and children for a pre school get together with refreshments.
Betsy Newcomer daughter of Mr and Mrs Sam Newcomer route 2 has been named Police Chief during the 19th Buckeye Girls State session in Sherman Rarey county She is among 1250 participants in a program run by the Ohio American Legion Auxiliary aimed at teaching citizenship and government duties The Jaycee Ettes sponsor Betsy and the event wraps up Sunday June 27 with 13 968 girls having participated nationwide

The Carey Farmers CO OPERA TIVE CO will be closed Monday July 5 in observance of a holiday.
Rev Robert E Klingel will replace Rev Robert Jones at Memorial EUB Church Monroeville Indiana. Klingel, a Taylor University graduate, served the Wabash EUB circuit and attends United Theological Seminary. He will be ordained in June 1966. Rev David H Weaver named minister of First Methodist Carey Ohio by Bishop F Gerald Ensley. Weaver preached June 20 and moved into the parsonage June 25. He holds a BDiv from American Theological School and previously served in Fremont and Toledo churches.
The Dorcas Carey Public Library Board acknowledges a substantial bequest from the late Mrs Lucy Dromgold to establish a memorial fund for books in her name. Funds support acquisitions, replacements, and improvements as the library seeks ongoing community reading access amid static county taxes. Trustees Douglas Myers chair and others urge public interest in library needs and express thanks for gifts of books and donations in memory or lifetime gifts.
The Otto States Shuffleboard Club held a two day tournament at Reid Park Springfield with Carey club members dominating expert and amateur divisions. Harold Shiley and Denver Donelson won expert bronze while Dorcas Donelson and Mary Shirey took fourth. in amateur division Lee Yentzer and Harold Donelson placed third. Consolation top honors went to Cy Willams and Salvio Sapparta of Carey.
Four cases heard by Judge C J Hagley. John R Sharrits of Columbus Grove fined 10 plus 8.60 costs for red light violation. Robert D Dible of Upper Sandusky fined 10 plus costs for red light. Orlando McCoy of Findlay forfeited a 25 bond on a charge of singing. Donald Stover of N Vance Street had charges dismissed after an accident caused by a broken steering wheel. $10 fine plus costs suspended due to answering a fire call. Stover injured with knee and head cuts.
Bob Hale of Burson and Hale Inc attended the Bulova Accutron Clinic at the Holiday Inn Motel in Akron. The event drew about 200 jeweler-watch makers from Ohio and Pennsylvania to learn repair and adjustment techniques. Hale was the sole regional representative. Burson and Hale Inc is now equipped to test and service the Accutron.
All notices and reports including weddings should be submitted early this week because of the Monday holiday. Changes in church schedules must be submitted by Friday to be included.
A high Mass of thanksgiving will be offered at 8 o clock on Sunday July 4 at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation for the intentions of Mr and Mrs John Welsh of W North Street. Their son Rev Warren Welsh OFM Conv will celebrate and preach. The Mass marks 25 years in business for Moore's Store in Carey dating from their July 4 1940 move from Albany NY. The Welsh family invites friends to join the service.
