The morning service moves from 10 15 to 10 30 to allow Sunday school extra time. Starting next Sunday the service will begin at 10 30. Sunday evening the pastor continues the series What About War The Results of War. A Valentine Social by the choir is planned for Tuesday night Feb 12 with a unique program. All friends are invited.
Dr. R. C. Van Buren suffered a severe nosebleed Friday starting at 4 00 a m and lasting eighteen hours. The doctor was weakened by the blood loss but remained conscious and attended to patients as usual.
C F Sutter's ambulance responded Saturday with Dr J N Zeis to take Mrs Troiano of EB Findlay street to Mercy Hospital in Tiffin. The mother survived after an operation but the baby was stillborn. Infant's remains buried at St Mary's Cemetery Monday. Mother recovering at Mercy Hospital yes.
Last Monday the Kiwanis Club heard Miss Carolyn Newhard city librarian discuss the clubs yearlong library campaign. She praised the community response, noted calls average about 20 000 annually with 1745 calls in one month, and urged an assistant librarian while announcing Farmers Night moves and a moving pictures event at the high school auditorium. The next meeting will feature Reverend Lewis P Speaker with a prize donated by Earl Burson.

Mrs Ida May Heckman died at home near Carey after a brief illness at age 63 years 3 months and 26 days. She was married in 1886 to Winfield Stahl and is survived by seven of eight children and several relatives. Burial was in Spring Grove cemetery with services at the Evangelical church and membership in the McCutchenville Presbyterian church.
About forty friends of Mr and Mrs Robert Walters five miles south of Carey attended an old-fashioned bell ringing gathering Tuesday night. The guests were invited in and treated royally with amusements and refreshments following the activities.
Levi R Haines a longtime Carey resident died suddenly at 10 00 am Wednesday aged 85 years 29 days He was born August 31 1838 in Calvert County Maryland and lived in Seneca county before moving to Adrian then Carey He married Mary Zint in 1868 and leaves a daughter two sons six grandchildren and four great grandchildren Surviving relatives include a sister and several brothers He was a livestock shipper county commissioner Knights of Pythias and Masonic lodge member and a director of Peoples Bank Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 00 pm at his home with burial in Spring Grove cemetery under the direction of C F Sutter
Carey girls edge Eden 9 5 in a tight first game with a 3 3 tie late in the fourth quarter. A Huston scores 12 in the opener and Eden’s Blazer leads with 10 as Carey aims for a third straight win.
Grade cards for the third six weeks period will be issued on Friday. Students should bring their student IDs and check their marks for core subjects.
Carey high school basketball teams travel to face Salem Centralized School at the high school auditorium. Tip off is 7 30 PM. The Wharton game earlier listed for Friday has been cancelled.
A son arrived for Mr and Mrs Phul Sam met on Monday and a 14 pound son for Mr and Mrs M H McLaughlin near Nevada on Friday night.
The society met at Miss Carolyn Newhard’s home assisted by Mrs Earl Burson and Miss Martha Stahl. The program included hymns, Bible lessons by Elsie Garmon, a talk on service, a vocal duet, a playlet and a missionary benediction, followed by refreshments.

Stockholders gathered in the Beck block last Thursday afternoon for the Carrey Peoples Telephone a met tier office annual meeting. Vo Thom was elected, and C Wentz and Mrs Thomas were re elected as directors for three years. Directors organized and re elected G A Kennerley as president Charles Robison as treasurer Ve Thomas as vice president Edgar Went ling as secretary. The secretary's report says the past year was prosperous and a six percent dividend was declared.
William Gobrecht died at home from bronchial pneumonia after strokes. He was 61 years old, born in Hancock county, married Susan Crosser in 1886, with five children and five grandchildren surviving. He leaves two brothers and two sisters and was a member of local churches and lodge. Funeral at 1:00 pm at home and 1:30 pm at Evangelical church, interment Crout Cemetery.

Miss Esther Tavenner daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Tavenner of Tiffin and Harley Ross Eyestone son of Mr and Mrs J R Eyestone of this place were married Wednesday at the bride's home. Rev George Douglas Young presided. Attendants were Paul and Frances Eyestone. Wedding dinner followed and the couple left by the afternoon train for Springfield Columbus and Fredericktown before settling at the bride's parents home.
George Heck's automobile burned in Thom Bros garage at 10 45 PM on Monday. Firemen reported the top burned off and the body badly damaged. Wm Ish alerted neighbors across the street, preventing further damage. Cause suspected as short circuit in wiring. Loss covered by insurance.
All members of Wharf Green Post No 344 American Legion are urged to attend the regular meeting on Tuesday February 5. A vast amount of business is to be transacted. Finance officer reports 1923 finances and Mr Otto Pflueger, in the Government Forestry Service in the Philippine Islands and former sergeant with the 35th Engineers, will give a lecture. Refreshments will be served.
Mr and Mrs John Wenzinger and Mr and Mrs Leo Hoept with family visited Charles Hoept and family near Tymochtee on Sunday. The gathering honored the birthday of Charles Hoept and Mrs Clarence Hoept’s son.
