Jacob Stief Dies Suddenly at 74 in Carey
The Carey community mourns the sudden death of Jacob Stief, age 74, at Flower Hospital Toledo from apoplexy after hospitalization Sunday. Funeral set for Saturday. survived by son Willard of Mt. George W Smith Found Dead at Farm in Wharton County
George W. Smith aged 86 was found dead in his barn at his farm 344 miles southwest of Wharton on Wednesday afternoon. His wife saw him fall and he died before help could reach him. Funeral services will be held at 230 Sunday afternoon from Mt. Zion Church near Wharton.

Miss Martha Ward and Miss Louise Nader, Heidelberg College sophomores and freshmen, won honors in the women’s debate tournament held January 17 and 18 on campus. Competing against colleges from Ohio Michigan Indiana and Pennsylvania they spoke on the negative side of the supreme court question and won three of four debates. Miss Ward, daughter of M. A. Ward of Sycamore Leader, is a former Carey girl.

Car Turns Over Near Dry Run Bridge
