Carey Sees Surge in Church Dedications Over Two Years

In Carey several churches have risen or expanded in two years. On June 29 1924 United Brethren dedicated a $10000 chapel at Patterson and South. The Methodist church near Findlay and Patterson valued at about $80000 was dedicated. Church of Our Lady of Consolation exterior finished, interior work ongoing with value over $200000. A $6500 Evangelical church addition was dedicated last Sunday. Next Sunday Christ Lutheran will dedicate a parish house around $40000.

Robbery at Jack's Diner on Findlay Street

Jack Hatcher proprietor of Jack's Diner on Findlay Street near the Big Four tracks was robbed early today. He left at 12 45 am and, blinded by snow, was confronted by three armed men who demanded and took between 800 and 900 dollars.

Albert F. Frey of Kirby and Miss Inez Lamberjack of Carey wed in a Nuptial High Mass at Our Lady of Consolation Church. Rev Father Aloys M. Fish officiated with a children's choir and Sr M Fidelis on organ. The reception followed for about 60 relatives at the bride’s home near Carey.

Man runs amuck at Galt hotel as armed incident ends in jail

Albert Mack, a former hotel night clerk, caused a disturbance at the Galt hotel lobby on Sunday night. He grabbed a chair and threw objects, then obtained a .22 rifle. Night Policeman Mann was threatened. Mack was subdued by a bystander and arrested. He pleaded guilty to pointing a loaded rifle at the officer and was bound over to the grand jury on $1,000 bond.

Dean Ashley of Akron spends four days with his parents before sailing from New York on the ferrick to London then by steamer to Monrovia Liberia. He works as an accountant for Firestone Plantation Co which is building roads and clearing underbrush for a rubber project in Liberia. A dock at Monrovia is under construction to handle ships. Five other Plantation Co employees and four doctors with wives have also left New York for Liberia.

The Prest Campaign Offers Extended Enrollment

The time for members to be enrolled has been extended one week to February 1 and the hunt extended to February 15. Pay 35 cents for admission and join to banquet at the finish while killing pests on your farm.

Evangelical Dedication At Memorial Church Retold In Carey

A large crowd attended four dedication services for Memorial Evangelical church Sunday with 267 present at Sunday school. LeRoy Wonder presented new classrooms to A. B. Constien. Bishop J. F. Dunlap preached and led the dedication offering of 7231 dollars. The Carey church’s origins trace to Evangelical families in 1833 and early members including Rev Daniel Wonder and the Hare family, with significant growth led by the Wonder and Harpster lineages.

Renowned organ builder Schanhoff leaves Oak Grove for Pittsburg

Frank L. Schanhoff of Oak Grove departs Friday for Pittsburg to oversee building and erection of several large pipe organs in the area. A respected organ maker since 1894, his notable Carnegie Music Hall organ features four manuals and 135 stops with over 3700 pipes. He plans a three month project span and a short visit home to his farm family afterward.

Mrs. Margaret Shroll learned Saturday of a baby girl born to her son in law and daughter in Toledo on Thursday. Louise Fink was formerly known as Miss Louise Fink. Prof. Frank Henry and his wife in Bellefontaine welcomed a son born January 17 named Henry Freeman. He previously taught at Carey high school. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Green in a flat above Brown's store welcomed a daughter named Dorothy Lee last Thursday.
