Carey girls sprinted to a 28 23 victory over Marseilles as Carey led 20 7 at halftime and held the Blue and White to a single basket in the final period. Boys game stayed tight with Marseilles pulling out a 28 21 win after a late rally.

Seniors win 10 0 in Inter Class League clash

Friday evening two Inter Class League games were held. The Seniors beat the Juniors 10 to 0. The Sophomores defeated the Freshmen 25 to 6 in the other match, determining the day’s results.

Car theft puzzle links Riester to missing Dodge

A Dodge sedan disappeared Saturday night from Ed Riester Sr.’s business corner at Vance and North. An Essex sedan was later found abandoned near Murray Pipes’ Crawford home with plates removed. A motorist saw two youths with grips walking toward Carey and a license plate was later found in a field near the abandonment site.

William Chambers Property Sold at Sheriff Sale

The William Chambers property at the corner of Lake and Clay streets sold Saturday at sheriff sale. Amil Pahl bought it for $2,000, including several lots and two houses. The sale arose in the Bucyrus case Alice Kerr against Mrs Susana Terrell and others. Mrs Anna and Mrs Terrell were sisters of the late Mr Chambers.

Last Saturday the government thermometer hit 12 below zero. By Sunday the temperature rose 20 degrees, then Monday and Tuesday were brisk. Tuesday night fell to 5 below, and last night plunged to 14 below, setting a new coldmark for the period.

Wyandot County School Board Elects Officers Discourages Student Commerce

The Wyandot County school board met to organize for the year with Anson Bloom serving as president and L. A. Althouse as vice president. They set regular meetings for the first Monday of each month at 1 30 p m in winter and evenings in summer, and adopted a resolution discouraging sale of commodities by pupils across districts, to be sent to local boards. Other members include A. R. Cramer, Jacob Fruth, and Edward Swerlein.

Services at Christ Lutheran Church Highlight Sunday Schedule

Preparatory and Holy Communion services start at 10 30 with a 4 30 vesper plus Miss Elsie Howard on the organ and a choir program. Holy Communion offered at the vesper. From 5 30 to 6 00 the Lutheran League hosts a social with light lunch followed by a playlet titled The Deaconess at Work.

Death of Mrs. Joe Ridenour in Riverside California

Mrs. Joe Ridenour formerly Maud Bennet of Carey died January 10 1930 in Riverside after a short illness from spinal meningitis following mastoid surgery. She leaves a husband and young daughter Joan. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B Bennet. Her mother remains in Riverside. father died four years ago. Mrs Bennet well known in Carey for running Carey’s first creamery. She attended Carey High School and graduated in 1897.
