Truman Young who has served as a city mail carrier since last fall will cease duties at the first of the month. Sam Gunther will resume the post after completing a brief stint in the A. T. C. at Wittenberg Springfield. Truman will return to barber work in Frank Hart's shop.
A list of Careyites admitted to the Scottish Rite meeting includes H. B. Keller John Peter Byron Ogg W J Newhard L G Ranger E B Kurtz C F Pfineger J P Newhard Rev E Luther Spaid Dr I N Zeis S M Ranger and F M Kinney all noted as in attendance this week.
The W C T U will hold a Victory Jubilee at the Maccabee Hall on Tuesday evening January 28. A program of music and speeches will be given with light refreshments. A collection will be taken. Everybody is invited.
Joseph F Wonder born November 10 1842 in Flat Rock Seneca county died at his Carey home after a lengthy illness caused by Brights disease and dropsy. Civil War veteran 144th O V I he later served as justice of the peace health officer and Carey mayor He was a traveling preacher and longtime United Evangelical church member Funeral held at United Evangelical church with Knights of Pythias pallbearers burial at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Mrs E C Walker aged 79 died at her East Main street home Friday after a long illness. She had undergone fibroid surgery in Toledo on July 9 and declined after bronchial trouble in September. Funeral service was held at the Methodist church with a quartet, interment at Spring Grove. She was born Elda Logan in Athens on October 9 1865 and married E C Walker December 13 1888. She leaves husband daughter Edith Lincoln of Harvard, two brothers Albert and George Logan, sister Mrs C A Fowler, and several relatives.
A mass meeting will be held at the Evangelical church in Upper Sandsky on Friday evening at 8 90 oclock to aid the Syrian and Armenian relief fund. A nationally known speaker is promised. At 7 oclock township and corporation chairmen and solicitors meet for organizational purposes. Information on the drive and materials will be distributed. Every solicitor is urged to attend.
S A Chesebrough bought the barn at the rear of W R Kurtz on West Main and plans moving it to his North street lot near Dr Chesebroughs house to remodel as a dwelling. The note ends with a friendly remark that Carey needs more houses.
The Rev J C Arbuckle D D of Shepard will speak Sunday evening January 26 at the M E Church. He is general field secretary for the Methodist Children's Home Association of Ohio and will present the home’s interests in Worthington Ohio.
I. G. Huston retires from Phelps Garage Co while Ensign H. B. Umbell, recently mustered out of the navy, purchases an interest in the business.

The revival led by Rev. Chester L. Kern at United Evangelical Church has attracted twenty eight persons forward and fourteen more united with the church last Sunday. A final decision depends on a pulpit announcement after last evening’s session.

Sergeant Merrill Brown arrived from Lima to surprise his parents Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Brown after five years in the Indiana National Guard. He trained in southern camps since 1917 and served on the Mexican border and in France aboard the George Washington. He is joined by his brother Walter L. Brown and returned to work as a fireman on the Lake Erie and Western railroad.
Orville Dame of Toledo was discharged from the army January 5 at Camp Sherman after about six months service with the 6th Anti Aircraft Machine Gun Battalion. He trained at Camp Wadsworth in South Carolina and has since returned to Toledo to work. He says the experience left him in fine trim and he enjoyed the time in service.
Paul Krupp son of Mr and Mrs Peter Krupp has been transferred to a band with the army of occupation and sent to Germany in a letter received last week Solomon, 13, is believed to be on the way home from the war front.
The Crawford township school board reorganizes with W. J. Baker as president and Brayton Davis as vice president. BEd. Campbell Jr. remains clerk of the board.
Orton and Thomas have rented the Mrs Mosier room next door to Schira's shop and will install a vulcanizing plant. They already operate a string of these shops.
Miss Edith Fetter spent Friday to Sunday in Lima attending the funeral of her mother's sister Mrs Enmyl Meyer.
