Wyandot county youths are invited to a January 6 meeting at 7 30 PM in the Union School auditorium Upper Sandusky. Burglar Hits Carey Homes In Weekend String of Thefts

A weekend burglar entered six Carey residences stealing small sums of cash and a few valuables. He triggered fears in Eastern Heights and Wyandot Avenue as he fled after being seen by residents. Sheriff Weatherholtz and Deputy Frey found no fingerprints.

Eight year old hit by pickup on N Patterson Street

Noreen Walters, eight, daughter of Mr and Mrs Russell Walters, was struck by a pickup driven by Leslie Reynolds on Wednesday around 5 pm while crossing N Patterson street in front of C B Myers property. She suffered multiple bruises scratches and a painful right hand and wrist injury.

Auto crash injures two near New Riegel

Silverius La Fontaine and Leonard Reinhart of Alvada escaped serious injury when their car struck a bridge a mile south of New Riegel Friday near midnight. The vehicle was badly wrecked and Reinhart sustained a painfully injured leg.

Claire Gipson will be stationed in Carey January 7 and 14 at the public library to assist vendors with the six months reports and answer questions. Vendors should bring receipts, exempt sales, prepaid tax inventories, and stamp inventories.

Hendricks Seated as Carey Mayor in Opening Council Session

At a regular village council meeting, Carey swore in new mayor P A Hendricks and council members. Retiring mayor C E Hunter administered the oath, with Jacob Nitrauer as clerk and I L Culler treasurer. Several incumbents retained seats while June adjourned, a surprise resignation by E G Snyder prompted Free Scourse to fill the vacancy. Elmer Hunter was reappointed sanitary inspector and John Orians along with E W Mulholland were kept as night policemen.

Carey Kiwanis Club Opens 1938 With New Officers

The Carey Kiwanis club met at Pilgrim House to begin 1938 with new officers led by Fr Cyprian Terwoord as president and Rev Marion E Tinsler as vice president. Committees on public affairs, membership, music, youth work, agriculture and more were appointed. Two local hunters Addison Plott and Clarence Wentz returned home with deer after fending off highway robbers who pursued them for two miles.

New two story garage under construction at seminary

A two story five car brick garage is under construction at the rear of Our Lady of Carey Seminary. It will serve residents of the Seminary and Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation. The brick exterior matches existing buildings and a frame garage in use will be torn down.
