Festive Christmas Day dinners and gatherings fill Carey area homes with extended families and neighbors. Numerous households, including the Hoff family, Cardwell, Conley, Robison, and many others, hosted relatives from Findlay, Tiffin, Bowling Green, Mansfield, and beyond, sharing meals, gifts, and holiday greetings.
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Patterson of Carey celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Sunday December 28. Born in Iowa and Hancock County respectively, they married in 1886 near Vanlue and moved to Carey in 1894 where Mr. Patterson ran a furniture and undertaking business. They have five children, 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A family dinner at Trubey's featured emerald green decor and a program of music and remarks.
A church group met at the Methodist parsonage with Rev. Donald W. Cryer to plan sanctuary decoration. Trustees and leaders named include George Ash Forrest Baker Clyde Jenkins C W Lanning and others, with 150 dollars on hand and funds to be raised before painting begins. The sanctuary walls have never been painted since the church was built 17 years ago and the goal is to finish before Lent begins February 18.
The Lanning family and relatives express gratitude to friends neighbors and lodges for support after the death of our wife and mother Special thanks go to Rev Donald W Cryer singers flower donors pallbearers and Undertaker Bristoll for his services
Lanning Motor Sales, local Ford dealers, have moved from the Johnson room on S Vance Street to the Hosack room on E Findlay, formerly occupied by Ed's garage.
Sonny Williams and his orchestra perform every Saturday and Sunday night at Healey's Tavern beginning January 3, delivering live music for weekend crowds across the town.

Revival services began Sunday evening with a sermon on Prevailing Prayer by the pastor. Edith Gallagher of Sebring led the song service. Monday evening featured Rev. E J Halde man of Fostoria as messenger. Services run nightly except Saturday until January 11 with an urgent invitation to all to attend.
The Victory class of the Carey Methodist Sunday school will hold a regular meeting Thursday evening January 8 at the home of Mrs Willis Wonder in Findlay. Mrs Fred Mitchell will be assisting hostess.
An 8 lb 7 oz baby girl named Susanne was born to Mr and Mrs William Warfel of 111% East Findlay Street. Mrs Warfel, before marriage, was Miss Irene Corr on.
The P. R. S. club will meet with Mrs. Raymond Lonsway north of Carey on Thursday January 8.
Porter A. Hendricks a Carey businessman was appointed Wyandot county clerk of courts to fill the unexpired term of the late Charles K. Crise who died suddenly in Upper Sandusky. The Republican has long been active in Carey and Wyandot politics and previously served as mayor three terms on the Carey board of public affairs and as councilman. He will serve the remaining three years of Crise’s term following a county commissioners meeting after considering 18 applicants.
Our Lady of Carey seminary choir was invited by Fr William Spickerman to sing the Christmas midnight Mass at St Marys Church Marion in a broadcast with WMRN. Six friars led the three part Mass The Shepherd by Peter Yon with Gesu Bambino during offertory. Broadcast praised by listeners and WMRN officials as a great success.
The adult classes elected church school leaders for 1942 including C W Lanning as superintendent and Wesley Wonder as assistant superintendent. Other officers are Mrs Forrest Baker missionary superintendent Paul Woods treasurer Forrest Baker secretary Rex Huston assistant secretary Mrs W H Huston pianist Mrs W Cole chorister Phyllis Ulrich librarian Donald Woods Calvin Thome. Nominating committee members were Wallace Dible Mrs Rose Dilfer and W L Lindsay.
The Moose and lady Moose are invited to a New Years Eve event at the local lodge. Money is promised in 10 20 and 50 dollar bills with amusements throughout the place. A $5 defense stamp will be given away. Lodge Thursday January 1.
Mr and Mrs G C Wagner of Carey announce the engagement of their daughter Laura Jeanette to Robert D Houk son of Mr and Mrs Harry Houk of Tiffin. No definite wedding date has been set but it is planned for some time in the near future.
John Twining of Oak Ridge Sanitarium Green Springs thanks all who sent Christmas cards and remembered him during the holidays.
The Carey Schools Band Mothers Club will not meet on the first Monday in January. The regular meeting will be held at the high school on Monday, January 12.
