Next Sunday marks the first Lent Sunday with morning sermons on A Message to the church based on Revelation chapters two and three. The theme for the Ephesian message is Loveless Christianity. Evening services begin informal lectures on The Story of My Life with discussions. Building Fund Sunday offers a special collection. Wednesday Mission Study traces Christian faith in China. Luther League topic The Cost of Friendliness led by James Yohe and William Keller.
Kiwanis gathered Monday noon with Dr W N Johnson presiding as crowd levels ran high. A G McQuate led singing with stunts by Roy Mallard and Lamar. D A Capell presented entertainment from the Strand Theatre. Farmers night banquet details clarified. Mark Karr and David Dow named hosts for township guests. Hugh Fuller of Delaware lined up as lead entertainer. banquet at 7 p m. Dr Harry Hosafros donated prize won by P B Emerine.
Land deals include fourteen acres in Tymochtee sold for one dollar from Harry and Margaret Shoup to Harley F DeTray. Crawford township records show 165 acres to Victoria Ruf, one dollar, and other parcels including lots 92 and 93 in Carey to Elza E and Fern Thornton for one dollar. Additional transfers cover seven and one half acres in Crane township to Rudolph Antener, and subdivisions in Upper Sandusky as well as Sycamore township parcels.
A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Joseph Fox last week. Dale Robert weighed in after a February 18 birth for Mr and Mrs Harley Lowery. Ruth May was born February 16 to the Foxes. Ruth May named. A daughter to Mr and Mrs Isaac Smith of Galion. Mrs Smith was Edith Stalder of Marseilles. A daughter to Mr and Mrs William Coldren of Deshler on February 21. Mrs Coldren is the daughter of Mrs J W Wright near Carey.
Lewis Benjamin of Forest area was instantly killed Sunday morning when he fell from a Pennsylvania freight car returning from Dola with several companions. He struck an iron mail post with terrible force after losing his footing.
William H. Heck died at his home northwest of Sycamore Tuesday evening from heart trouble. He was 65 years old. Funeral arrangements are to be announced by the family.
Next Sunday Rev. D F Helms of Lima will preach morning and night. He is a leading conference figure and former district superintendent. The pastor is on vacation and plans to return by March 8. Junior Church will meet March 8 instead of next Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs I A Logsdon hosted a birthday party at their Clay Street home Saturday evening honoring their son Donald on his ninth birthday. Guests included Melford Heck Robert Heck Laverne Wagener Bernard Wagener Maurice Brown Ralph Scullin Stewart Scoby Elias Arnold Carlton Jenot and Gilbert Logsdon with tasty refreshments served.
Homer Thrall of Marysville a student in engineering at Ohio Northern Ada has been awarded a commission as second lieutenant of infantry in the officers reserve corps He is a former Carey boy and the son of L G Thrall of Marysville and grandson of Mrs Homer Thrall of this city.
The revival at the Evangelical church remains ongoing with 24 conversions reported through Tuesday evening. All are welcome to attend the remaining days of the meeting.

After two years illness Mrs Margaret Lombard died Friday night at her home on Muncie street at age 74 years 11 months and 1 day Born near Adrian she married William Lombard who preceded her in death Survived by four children twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren Many relatives from nearby towns attended the funeral at Christ Lutheran church with burial in Spring Grove cemetery.
Miss Marie Grady daughter of Mr and Mrs Alvin Grady wed William Yingling son of Mr and Mrs Sherman Yingling in Carey Tuesday morning. Rev A G Tozer officiated at the Evangelical church couple's newly furnished North Street home witnessed by Mrs Grady daughter Martha Mrsingsing and Mrs Tozer Wealth comes to those who know how to get it and departs from those who do not know how to keep it.
Neighbors gathered at the home of Mr and Mrs Ray Ewing northwest of Carey Saturday night with well filled baskets as the Ewings plan to move to Oklahoma. Attendees included many neighbors and relatives sharing a bountiful meal of cats and a warm sendoff.
The Foreign Missionary Society of the M. E. church met at Mrs. W. L. Lindsay's home. Programs included songs Faith of Our Fathers and Jesus Savior Pilot Me, a devotional by Mrs. John Steady, prayers by Mrs. W. F. Martin and Mrs. J. C. Dow, and a text book session with Mrs. Frank Daymon and Mrs. C. Cosgray. The Ladies Aid society held a concurrent session at the same residence.
Coleman and Dabney announce a dry goods store opening in the Patterson room of the Kurtz block. G B Coleman of Findlay and C B Dabney, formerly with the Ewing drug store, will run the business aiming to open about March 12 and invite Carey residents to visit and support the venture.
Elwood the Modern Svengali hypnotized a young lady for a ten hour sleep in the Diller show window at the Stand Theatre. The sleeping woman drew attention as spectators watched the stunt and pondered whether she would awaken if Ellwood were harmed.
Miss Isse L. Jones lies in critical condition at Marion after her brother in law Bert Radebaugh shot at an intruder during a 1 am disturbance. Jones had been entertaining a friend at her sister's home when a noise prompted the shooting which may prove fatal.

Jesse Miller was tried in common pleas court before Judge Charles. Found guilty and sentence deferred. He was sent to jail for later disposition.
Raymond Campbell reporting from New Orleans relays news of the Cave City stop and attendance at the Floyd Collins funeral held after his death in the Blowing Sand Cave incident. The message notes Collins was en route when he visited Cave City and joined services.
